The Dallas Cowboys are hoping for a bounce-back year after a dreadful 2024 campaign. As injuries ravaged the entire roster, they finished with a disappointing 7-10 record after three consecutive years posting 12-5 records. As a result, the offseason was pivotal for them.
Addressing almost every area of need, owner and general manager Jerry Jones even made a blockbuster trade for George Pickens. Now, a franchise legend is fully sold on his team’s Super Bowl chances, thanks to the new wide receiver duo of Pickens and CeeDee Lamb.
George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb Could Power Cowboys to Championship Glory
Last season went horribly for the Cowboys, both on the field and in the injury report. Dak Prescott, fresh off signing a four-year, $240 million contract that made him the highest-paid player in the NFL’s history, suffered a season-ending hamstring injury that required surgery.
On the defensive side, their two primary corners, Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, suited up for just one game together, with others like Micah Parsons also moving in and out of the lineup. As a result, neither unit performed at its expected level.
The offense, which had been a top-seven unit in consecutive years, including an MVP-caliber season from Prescott in 2023, finished 23rd on PFSN’s Offense+ Metric. Similarly, a defense led by true juggernauts, coming off three-straight top-five finishes, ranked 25th on the corresponding Defense+ Metric.

Health alone should lead to a better year on that side of the ball. But according to legendary wide receiver Dez Bryant, the offense is going to be no slouch either, especially after the addition of Pickens to the attack.
Staking his claim on the Super Bowl winner arriving from the NFC East, Bryant was highly complimentary of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. But his loyalty lay with America’s Team, who he believed were going to win Super Bowl 60.
On the offense, he said in an interview with Fox Sports at the Fanatics Fest in New York, “I don’t know how you don’t be successful with George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb on the field at the same time. It’s going to cause a lot of trouble.”
Brian Schottenheimer Must Maximize Elite Talent
For the Cowboys, it’s going to be on first-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who took over the responsibilities after serving under Mike McCarthy as the offensive coordinator, to lead Dallas back to the playoffs, or, as Bryant claims, the Super Bowl itself.
“Schotty got to get in there and figure out the best scheme to score points. If we score points, we’re good.” Speaking of the head coach, Bryant was already impressed with the work Schottenheimer was putting in.
“I love everything he’s been doing as of late. You gotta give him his credit. He’s got the energy flowing in the building, the guys are happy to be there, and the guys would run through a wall for him.”
With all the hype and the excitement in the locker room, the three-time Pro Bowler is going to visit training camp to get a first-hand view of the proceedings. But this new look Cowboys roster already has him excited for the upcoming season.
Now it’s on Coach Schottenheimer to put the best possible product forward and deliver the championship that has eluded Dallas since 1996.
