‘S**t Doesn’t Make Sense’ – Cowboys Legend Rips Lions HC Dan Campbell’s Decision Making vs. Packers

Since Dan Campbell took over as the head coach for the Detroit Lions, there's no doubt about which is the most aggressive team in the NFL.

Since Dan Campbell took over as the head coach for the Detroit Lions, there’s no doubt about which is the most aggressive team in the NFL. This quickly became the team’s identity, but at the same time, criticism has emerged over a perceived overaggressiveness from Campbell.

During the Lions’ Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers, Campbell was once again criticized for some of his playcalls. The Lions failed to convert on two fourth-down attempts and lost 31-24 in one of the most crucial games of the year, complicating their playoff situation in a crowded NFC.

Dez Bryant Criticizes Dan Campbell After Failed Fourth Down Conversions

Another game with questionable Lions decisions sparked criticism on social media once again. The loss to the Green Bay Packers will have a significant impact inside the NFC North, and some of the in-game decisions caught the attention of former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Bryant, who played for the Dallas Cowboys for most of the last decade, stated on his account that the Lions “don’t make sense” and they need to be studied:

It’s now been three straight weeks that the Lions have not converted a single fourth-down attempt. They have failed to do so in all attempts since the game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11. In one of their key staples, Detroit is not working as expected.

It must be noted that, overall, the offense is not working as well as in previous years. They had the league’s best offense in 2024, averaging 33.2 points per game. They now have just 29.2 points per game. While it’s a good mark, an incredible offense was the Lions’ staple in 2025.

The offense currently sits at No. 9 in our PFSN Offense Impact Metric.

One thing that could help the Lions in those fourth-down situations is the return of All-Pro center Frank Ragnow. He had decided to retire in June, but before Week 13, he changed his mind and returned to the NFL. Ragnow is expected to play in Week 14 and could be a massive addition for the Lions for the final part of the season.

Their identity is not going to change any time soon. After all, this is what transformed the Lions from one of the worst teams in the league to one of the best. But consistency is needed, and right now, Detroit is lacking.
