What Happened to Dolphins Star De’Von Achane?

Achane went down in the first half of Miami’s 34-10 win over the New York Jets in Week 14 after taking a hit to the ribs. He headed to the locker room for further evaluation and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.

Before exiting, Achane posted 92 yards on seven carries and a 13-yard touchdown, continuing an unreal stretch in which he’s piled up 520 rushing yards over his last four games. According to PFSN’s RB Impact, Achane is ranked third with an impact score of 87.1.

Jaylen Wright took over the workload and delivered 107 yards on 24 carries, but Achane’s early explosion helped Miami race to a 21–0 lead.

De’Von Achane’s Injury: Is He Available For Week 15?

The Dolphins labeled it a rib injury, and Achane underwent an MRI on Monday. The good news: Head coach Mike McDaniel doesn’t believe the injury is long-term.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, McDaniel added that Achane said he was uncomfortable on Sunday but already feeling better, and even told the coach he could have returned to the game against the Jets if needed.

The Dolphins play on Monday night, giving Achane an extra day to recover. His participation in practice later this week, especially on Thursday and Friday, will provide the clearest indication of his final status.

The Dolphins will finish the regular season with a difficult stretch of games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New England Patriots. Achane must be fit if Miami needs to beat these teams in the upcoming weeks.

The Dolphins’ offense is built around its run-game efficiency. Miami’s offense thrives when its run game is explosive. Without Achane on the field, defenses can crowd the line of scrimmage, making life significantly tougher for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the passing attack.
