Shedeur Sanders made it to the 2026 Pro Bowl, and Deion Sanders was one of the loudest voices to react. Shedeur became the most polarizing rookie in NFL history, and his Pro Bowl selection only stirred debate about his impact on the league and the Pro Bowl’s credibility. While the rookie has developed a cult-like following, he’s had as many detractors.
What did his father say about his Pro Bowl selection?
Hall of Famer Deion Sanders Praises God for Son Shedeur’s Pro Bowl Selection
Shedeur walked a path to the NFL unlike most players. His father served as his football coach from a young age, continuing through college. His journey garnered attention at Jackson State, where Deion served as the school’s head coach.
After strong showings, the duo made it to Colorado, where the fame, stakes, and eyeballs only ramped up. Nonetheless, Shedeur made it to the NFL as a 2025 fifth-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns, where he backed up Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Gabriel Dillon.
A game of musical chairs ensued at quarterback, and Sanders ultimately found himself running the offense at the end of the season. Moreover, he even earned a Pro Bowl nod, despite lacking the numbers to back it up.
The miracle-like series of events inspired Deion to call out in praise to God.
“God is So darn Good!!!” he exclaimed on X on Monday. “That’s why we praise God morning, noon & night! Lord we thank u for it ALL. #CoachPrime @ShedeurSanders @DeiondraSanders @DeionSandersJr @ShiloSanders @shelomi_sanders Yes Lord!”
Shedeur overcame all the odds to record his first Pro Bowl selection, and Deion showed all the gratitude he possibly could.
“GOD IS GOOD SO GOOD!” he tweeted.
The young quarterback, his family, and his fan base will enjoy every second of his Pro Bowl debut.
NFL Analyst Skip Bayless Believes Shedeur Sanders Could ‘Save’ the Pro Bowl
Sanders’ Pro Bowl selection might’ve seen a lot of opposition, but famous NFL analyst Skip Bayless has a different perspective on the situation. The rookie shot-caller might not live up to Pro Bowl standards with his stats (ranking 46th in the PFSN NFL QB Impact), but he exceeds the mark in another category.
“On draw, he’s a Pro Bowler to me,” Bayless said. “On interest generated, he’s a Pro Bowler to me. On magnetism, on eyeballs… People watch Shedeur Sanders. So, for me, the National Football League made a shrewd move, and I’m not sure how far down the list they needed to go because nobody watches it anymore. It’s a dying breed of a game. And now to save the game… Will I watch Shedeur play? Yeah, I’ll watch Shedeur play.”
Sanders has built up a massive following, and it’ll be interesting to see how much attraction he brings to the 2026 games.
