Deion Sanders Bashes Hall of Fame Voters for Snubbing Bill Belichick

Sanders, a Hall of Famer since 2011, spent the better part of his post-retirement life watching Belichick coach the Patriots to much success. The former star was still in the league when the Patriots icon launched New England’s dynasty in the early 2000s.

With that said, the Hall of Famer believes there is more than enough evidence for Belichick to be a first-ballot inductee. He took to X to react to the news that the longtime coach had been snubbed from the Class of 2026.

“The Disrespect to Coach Belichick is straight out IGNORANT!” he posted on Tuesday. “He’s arguably the BEST NFL COACH TO EVER COACH THE GAME! How quickly we forget the impact Coach Belichick made on all of us @nfl WOW! #CoachPrime.”

Belichick spent over three decades coaching in prominent roles on NFL teams, dating back to his time with the New York Giants in the 1980s under Bill Parcells.

Winning two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator on the New York Giants marked only the beginning of a long, prestigious journey in the NFL. He took over as the Patriots’ head coach in 2000 and went on to build the greatest dynasty in league history with quarterback Tom Brady, who ranked 21st in PFSN’s QBi Metric for the 2022 season.

Belichick’s six Super Bowl rings as a head coach are the most of any coach in the history of the sport. Over 300 career wins, multiple coaching awards, part of the NFL’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team — the list goes on.

However, he still fell short of the required 40 out of 50 votes from the Hall of Fame selection committee. While he’ll have another chance to clear the 80% threshold next year, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

As expected, some of the best-known players from the 21st century will have a shot at making it to the Hall of Fame this year. Among the categories, the modern-era players list includes Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Frank Gore, Eli Manning, Luke Kuechly, Torry Holt, and Adam Vinatieri. Fans will be anticipating the selection process as we approach the NFL Honors on February 5.
