Despite a tough stint with the New York Jets in 2024, it was clear veteran wide receiver Davante Adams still had plenty left in the tank. He would sign with the Los Angeles Rams in the 2025 offseason, and the expectations of the fit with Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford were high.
He lived up to them immediately, becoming a consistent presence in the end zone, leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns. Unfortunately, a non-contact injury forced Adams out in the fourth quarter.
What Happened to Los Angeles Rams WR Davante Adams?
Coming into the game, Adams was banged up with a hamstring injury. Despite that, the wideout felt good enough to play against the Detroit Lions in Week 15. Stafford targeted Adams nine times, and the 12th-year WR hauled in four of them for 71 yards.
Unfortunately, on the last target, while trying to track the ball in the air, Adams started limping due to a non-contact injury and fell to the ground. Based on the aggravated hamstring and his reaction, it seems he re-aggravated the injury that he was set to play through.
There goes Davante Adams hamstring.
Was the primary concern in attempting to play through it, aggravation especially on downfield routes.
Could now be without him in weeks 16-17. pic.twitter.com/BA08Hodq60— Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT (@jmthrivept) December 14, 2025
This one is a disaster. Adams came into the game nursing a hamstring injury. The Rams are on a short week. It’s safe to say Adams will not be taking the field Thursday night.
There is no replacing Adams. Tutu Atwell will likely serve as the WR2; however, the situation becomes even more complicated when fellow wideout Puka Nacua goes down one drive later. The Rams have been utilizing their tight ends a lot more this season, and that should only increase for as long as Adams is out.
This is also a noticeable downgrade for the entire Rams offense, as it is harder to get into scoring position when a guy like Adams has been taken out of the lineup.
The Rams have been the best offensive unit in the league, standing atop PFSN’s Offense Impact metric with a score of 93.7. However, with two of their top offensive weapons going down in back-to-back drives, things are going to get tough down the stretch. Los Angeles will be crossing their fingers that the injuries are not too serious with the NFL postseason just three weeks away.
