One of the biggest questions this offseason was what the Indianapolis Colts would do with quarterback Daniel Jones. It was clear Indianapolis wanted him back, but negotiations were dragging on, and they had to use the transition tag on Jones first. This tag allowed the Colts more time to negotiate a long-term contract with Jones, and the deal has finally been agreed upon.
Daniel Jones Signs Long-Term Contract With the Indianapolis Colts
Last season, the Colts were one of the best offenses in the NFL, well, until Jones started dealing with injuries. He later suffered a season-ending Achilles injury that completely derailed the Colts’ season.
This injury may have scared many teams away, but for the Colts, it was their first time with QB stability since Andrew Luck, so bringing Jones back was a near guarantee.
The potential deal between the Colts and Jones was expected to be a pretty significant contract, and today, the two sides have agreed on the numbers. Jones officially signed a 2-year, $88 million contract, which could increase to $100 million.
BREAKING: The #Colts and QB Daniel Jones have agreed to a 2-year, $88M deal that could be worth up to $100M, multiple sources tell me.

Before this deal, according to CelebrityNetWorth, Jones’ net worth was $40M, and his salary was $36M. The Colts quarterback’s new deal has $88 million as base salary, $50 million fully guaranteed at signing, $60 million guaranteed for injury, and a maximum value of $100 million.
This extension is a massive move by the Colts, but, as mentioned, it was likely. Jones was the 5th-best QB in PFSN’s QB Impact Metric last season, and now, the hope is he can bounce back from his injury and be a long-term option for Indianapolis. The keyword there is hope because Jones has been far from consistent in his career.
Currently, Jones’ career path is discussed alongside that of players like Sam Darnold, Geno Smith, and Baker Mayfield. He was drafted by the New York Giants with high hopes, but never lived up to them. Like the other three players listed, Jones was considered a draft bust, but last year, he made his resurgence in the league.
The Colts are looking at Jones like Darnold, and if they get to that level, a Super Bowl may be in their future, but they could also get a version of Jones similar to Smith, who had a catastrophic season in Las Vegas last year.
Time will tell if this decision by the Colts was the correct one, but for now, Jones will be the starting QB in 2026.
