Daniel Jones has been having an excellent 2025 NFL season in his first year with the Indianapolis Colts. He unfortunately suffered an injury in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and was forced to leave the game early. Many around the league reacted to the devastating situation.
NFL Reaction to Daniel Jones’ Week 14 Injury
Jones has been one of the biggest breakout players this season as the Colts have seemingly unlocked the quarterback’s upside that he struggled to find during his time with the New York Giants. His outlook for the rest of the year is now questionable after suffering a concerning Achilles injury.
He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of their game against the Jaguars, and a long-term injury appears possible. Many around the NFL, including several analysts, reacted to the developing situation and expressed their concerns for the veteran.
“Daniel Jones just blew out his Achilles on a non-contact injury … An absolute disaster scenario for Indianapolis,” said Evan Sidery.

“Just a massive blow to the Colts,” posted James Palmer.
“Terrible,” replied Tom Pelissero.
“Just awful to see him go down like that,” responded Sam Block.
Jones currently ranks fifth among all quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings for this season. Josh Allen and Drake Maye currently top the list, followed immediately by Brock Purdy and Jordan Love. This clearly shows how good he has been for the Colts this year, as he has been playing among the elite players at his position.
It’s been an incredible journey, especially considering he had to win a training camp battle to be named the starter before the season kicked off. He beat out Anthony Richardson in a quarterback competition and has never looked back since then. He has the Colts in an excellent position to make it to the playoffs this year, but the Achilles injury may impact his availability down the stretch.

Rookie Riley Leonard replaced Jones following his exit, with Richardson currently listed as the emergency third-string quarterback. It will be interesting to see what they do in the coming weeks if Jones is forced to miss time.
Leonard has yet to make a start in his career, while Richardson lost the starting job after being one of the most hyped prospects in the NFL previously. The Colts are locked into a tight battle for the AFC South title, as well as a potential Wild Card spot, making the injury to their quarterback even more devastating.
