The Chicago Bears enter Week 7 with a lot to prove, looking to build their record to 4-2 and win their fourth consecutive game.
But Chicago will have to look to do so in the midst of running back D’Andre Swift popping up on the injury report due to groin issues. Swift was limited at Thursday’s practice as a result.
D’Andre Swift Injury Update
Swift broke out with 175 total offensive yards and a critical 55-yard receiving touchdown on 16 touches during Monday’s 25-24 win at Washington.
The Bears running back was not on Wednesday’s injury report but was limited in practice on both Thursday and Friday.
Earlier this season, Swift had a hip injury and was limited in practice, with other reports also circulating about quad injuries. However, on Friday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided a positive update on the Bears running back.
“Bears RB D’Andre Swift (groin) and DT Grady Jarrett (knee) are both listed as questionable and both expected to play Sunday, sources say,” Rapoport wrote on X.
Swift is currently ranked seventh overall in PFSN’s NFL RB Impact metric, with a B grade and an impact score of 84.8.
The Georgia alum was originally drafted in the second round (No. 35 overall) by the Detroit Lions back in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has 3,983 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns on the ground, alongside 1,950 receiving yards with nine TD catches across his career so far.
Swift concluded his time with Georgia on the Coaches’ All-SEC First Team in addition to being named to the All-SEC Second Team by the Associated Press. He signed a three-year, $24 million deal with Chicago in March 2024 during free agency after spending the 2023 season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday at Soldier Field between the Bears and New Orleans. The Saints are coming off a 25-19 loss to the New England Patriots, who now hold the top spot in the AFC East.
Swift’s Fantasy Outlook
Here’s what PFSN’s Kyle Soppe wrote about Swift’s fantasy outlook for Week 7:
The 55-yard touchdown reception took D’Andre Swift’s day on Monday from good to great, the third time he has scored in four weeks and the second 40+ yard reception this season.
Yards Per Carry Before First Contact
- Week 3 vs. Dallas: -0.08
- Week 4 at Las Vegas: 0.71
- Week 6 at Washington: 4.71
It truly is amazing what happens when you give an above-average running back a chance to succeed.
The Saints are a middle-of-the-pack run defense in terms of success rate, and that probably means that Monday’s level of success on the ground doesn’t stick (14 carries for 108 yards), but with 3+ targets in every game, I think the floor is high enough to start him weekly without much thought.
I have Swift ranked ahead of J.K. Dobbins (vs. NYG) and Kimani Vidal (vs. IND) if you’re looking to stack up the RB2s for Week 7.
