The Los Angeles Rams have a track record of spending and trading to maximize a Super Bowl window, and they might be gearing up for a 2026 run. While the Rams didn’t trade away veteran receiver Davante Adams, the potential move may have signaled the team’s belief in their championship hopes.
What Keeping Davante Adams Means for the Rams’ 2026 Super Bowl Window
Adams enjoyed an impressive 2025 season with Los Angeles despite turning 33 in December 2025. He found the end zone 14 times, something he has only surpassed once before in his career (18 touchdowns in 2020).
In early March, rumors began circulating that Adams might be traded from the Rams, but nothing materialized. Head coach Sean McVay said that the decision not to pull the trigger on an Adams trade was due to not finding a result that left the Rams more improved than they would have been with the veteran receiver still on the team.
Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Dan Orlovsky views the Adams situation as an indicator of McVay’s brilliance and ability to see all the moving parts within the organization. On Tuesday, Orlovsky spoke on ESPN’s “Get Up” regarding the Rams and McVay’s impressive impact.
“[Sean McVay] is unbelievably truthful.”

“I think the Rams are fascinating from this regard,” Orlovsky said, “because the Rams are a rare team in the league that you can truly sit there and go, ‘They have to be all in right now.’ They’re one of the three, four five teams that no question can win the Super Bowl, but you also can’t be so all-in that you totally forget about the future because of your quarterback’s age.
“As great as Stafford was last year, his age is what it is. And so you’re in this balance of do we want to take this player or this pick and get somebody that we think can impact us right now in 2026 to go win the Super Bowl, or do we want to move this player or this pick to maybe start to rebuild or retool this roster for another run, because our quarterback’s not 33 or 34 years old? He’s getting older.

“So, I just think they’re fascinating in the way that they view their football team.”
The Rams won the Super Bowl for the 2021 season with Matthew Stafford, largely due to their willingness to spend and trade with that singular campaign in mind. With Stafford still performing at a high level, PFSN gives him an 84.4 grade for the 2026 season. McVay smells the potential of another run if they can put all the right pieces on the board.
