The New York Jets have not had the 2023 season they expected when they acquired Aaron Rodgers. Obviously, the injury to him has played a huge role, but there have been way more quarterback problems than just Rodgers not playing.
But how much will that impact whether fantasy football managers should start Breece Hall or Dalvin Cook against the Houston Texans in Week 14? We’ll look at the fantasy outlook for each player.
Fantasy Outlook for Breece Hall This Week
Hall entered the game last week against the Atlanta Falcons questionable with an injury, but he did give it a go. It appeared maybe he wasn’t completely healthy, but the Jets still gave him the ball an amount that fantasy managers would be happy with.
He had 19 touches in the loss to the Falcons, which is his most in a game since Week 9. If your running back is getting the ball 19 times in fantasy, you can’t complain too much. However, he only generated 45 yards.
Of those 19 touches, 13 of them were on the ground, and that is where Hall really struggled on Sunday. He carried the ball for only 16 yards, or just over one yard per carry (1.2 yards). That was the fewest rushing yards he has had this season, and he has three total games with less than two yards per carry.
He was much better catching the ball out of the backfield, as he caught six passes for 29 yards.

He remains one of the most versatile running backs in the game. He has 44 catches on the season, and over his last six games, he has more yards receiving (236) than rushing (159).
It’s worth keeping an eye on his health for the rest of the week. He is currently listed as questionable after being a limited participant in practice on Friday. If he is able to go, he could be in store for a solid game, especially catching the ball.
Fantasy Outlook for Dalvin Cook This Week
Cook wasn’t on the field for a ton of snaps (18 snaps) last week against the Atlanta Falcons, but he was more effective than Hall when it came to running the ball. Cook had a season-high 35 rushing yards, and his nine carries were the most for him as a Jet since Week 1.
If the 35 rushing yards are a season-high for Cook, that should be a pretty good indication of whether or not he should be in your lineup. Cook just hasn’t looked like the player fantasy managers loved in Minnesota, as the explosiveness just isn’t there.
If Hall is healthy and able to go, there is no scenario that Cook should be in your lineup. Even if Hall isn’t able to go, Cook just hasn’t shown enough for him to be playing in anyone’s fantasy lineup at this point.
