Dallas Goedert’s Dynasty Value | Fantasy Outlook, Ranking, and More

Should Dallas Goedert’s dynasty value remain that of a fantasy football starter, or should you be moving on from the Eagles veteran?

The Philadelphia Eagles had the fourth-highest scoring offense over the past three seasons, and Dallas Goedert’s dynasty value has been steady as a result. Can you continue to trust the veteran tight end as he approaches 30 years of age?

Dallas Goedert’s Dynasty Outlook

Goedert has been a reasonably consistent option at a position that is difficult to fill, as he is one of six tight ends to haul in at least 55 passes in each of the past three seasons.

While the annual floor has been stable, the next time he catches 60 passes or scores six times in a season will be his first.

Goedert is entering his age-29 season, making him more of a win-now option in dynasty formats given the influx of high-end young talent at the tight end position. Of course, to be viable at all, he is going to have to remain on the field, something that typically gets more difficult with age.

He has missed multiple games in each of the past four seasons, a run that includes eight DNP’s over the past two years. If the ceiling is going to be capped due to the talent on this roster, he needs to offer an elevated floor every time the Eagles take the field — if you’re not confident in his ability to stay healthy, Goedert isn’t worth investing in.

I mentioned the lack of scoring upside, a stat that isn’t all that sticky year-over-year. That is, a spike TD season is in play for most, but given the way in which the Eagles attack the red zone, I’m not so sure that we should be holding our breath on a breakout scoring campaign for Goedert any time soon.

Over the past three seasons, seven times has an offense recorded a red zone rush rate north of 60% (for reference, the NFL average last season was 51.2%).

  • 2022 Chicago Bears: 67.2%
  • 2022 Atlanta Falcons: 66.9%
  • 2022 Philadelphia Eagles: 66.9%
  • 2023 Philadelphia Eagles: 63.8%
  • 2022 Carolina Panthers: 61.3%
  • 2022 New York Giants: 61%
  • 2021 Philadelphia Eagles: 60.8%

Yes, Philadelphia has an offense that puts points on the board, and that’s typically a guiding light when it comes to chasing upside at a position like tight end that carries plenty of variance. But is the third option (at best) on a run-heavy offense really the path to success?

Since the acquisition of A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans, 50 times has an Eagle seen at least eight targets in a game — 42 of those instances have been produced by either Brown or DeVonta Smith.

Goedert’s path to volume isn’t clear, and this offense isn’t geared toward sustaining more than two pass catchers on a consistent basis given their play-calling tendencies as they approach the scoring zone.

I’m not giving up on Goedert as a back-end option, but if his name carries more value than that, I’d be inclined to trade him. In most leagues, you’ll be able to find 85% of the production that Goedert projects to possess either on your waiver wire or as a cheap throw-in to another deal.

The tight end position can be a maddening one to fill in dynasty leagues — I’d be more likely to stream the position than I would to allocate draft capital on an underwhelming veteran like Goedert.
