Tyron Smith and Johnathan Hankins

Smith did not participate in practice all last week with a back injury he sustained against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15.

Ultimately, it was decided that he wouldn’t be available for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. In his absence, Chuma Edoga stepped in at left guard.

As for Hankins, he continues to deal with a high ankle sprain he suffered two weeks ago against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his absence, Mazi Smith and Carl Davis have stepped in to help patch up the run defense. However, Davis has one elevation left from the practice squad this season.

On Tuesday, Mike McCarthy said Smith and Hankins are “getting better” and “have a chance” for Saturday’s game against the Lions.

Zack Martin

Martin has been dealing with a thigh injury that kept him out of most of the Bills game, and it seems that his injury is an issue.

Tuesday was a veteran rest day for Martin, which is typical. Since Dallas lost a day of game prep with a Saturday game, Tuesday was the walkthrough workload of a Wednesday for the team.

This is when T.J. Bass usually fills in at right guard and gets valuable practice reps to ensure that he is ready if his number is called.
