Now that the dust has settled on the first wave of free agency, the Dallas Cowboys will look to the NFL Draft to fill out the rest of their roster.
Dallas Cowboys News Today
The Cowboys were one of the least active teams in free agency. Of course, they did not and will not land an extension for starting quarterback Dak Prescott, but they also lost key offensive starters like running back Tony Pollard and long-time left tackle Tyron Smith.
Despite a lackluster start to the NFL offseason, the Cowboys still finished with a 12-5 record, good for first place in the NFC East. Following their Wild Card round exit in the playoffs, that record earned them the No. 24 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Let’s get into the draft and more in today’s Cowboys news.
Amarius Mims Mocked to Cowboys
In Owain Jones’ latest seven-round mock draft, the Cowboys made their first real splash of the offseason. Jones has Dallas trading up from No. 24 with the Indianapolis Colts to No. 15 overall to select offensive tackle Amarius Mims.
Mims has arguably the highest ceiling of any offensive line prospect in this loaded class. After losing Smith in free agency, this selection gives the Cowboys protection up front.
“If the Cowboys can develop Mims in the same way they have Tyler Smith, he will turn into a franchise tackle,” Jones said in the mock draft.

Former NFL Champion Rips Jerry Jones
Three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth spoke out on the “Stinkin Truth” podcast about the lack of leadership in Dallas.
“It’s a lot more about organizational structure than I do about the quarterback you have playing,” Schlereth explained. “You never empower people, and when it comes to nut-cutting time, your organization falls apart.”
Mark Schlereth says as long as Jerry Jones is at the helm, he doesn't see the Cowboys winning.

Schlereth doesn’t believe that the Cowboys can win a Super Bowl because of Jerry Jones due to his lack of leadership throughout the organization.
“This is why, under Jerry, they just aren’t going to win,” Schlereth said. “You create an organization of finger-pointers, guys who don’t take responsibility.”

Derrick Henry Says Dallas Cowboys Never Reached Out
After losing Pollard in free agency, many NFL fans and pundits thought the Cowboys could pivot and sign Derrick Henry, who ultimately landed with the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year deal.
Despite this speculation, Henry said on “The Pivot” podcast that the Cowboys never even reached out.
Henry lives in Dallas and even admitted that signing with the Cowboys would’ve been the perfect situation if they had reached out.
“They ain’t holla at me at all,” Henry said.
