Cowboys Legend Urges Jerry Jones To Give Micah Parsons Shocking ‘$450 Million’ Contract

As the drama reaches a fever pitch between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, a franchise legend has the ideal solution for Jerry Jones.

Another year, another Dallas Cowboys superstar waiting until the waning days of the offseason to get a new contract from owner and general manager Jerry Jones. After Dak Prescott had to wait till the first weekend of the 2024 season, this time around, it is defensive specialist Micah Parsons who is doing the waiting. One of the most productive players in the league over the last four years, Parsons is in line for a blockbuster extension.

However, the contract negotiations have been a drawn-out drama that has now become a public spectacle over the last couple of weeks. Rather than doing what seems inevitable, the Jones family continues to extend the situation well past its expiry date. Publicly, as Jones debates the merit of extending Parsons to a massive contract, a legend from the organization believes he deserves Patrick Mahomes-type money.

Micah Parsons = Patrick Mahomes 2.0?

Coming into the league after a dominant run at Penn State, Parsons was immediately as good as advertised. Winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, he was a Pro Bowler from Year 1, as he set the rookie record for sacks in Cowboys franchise history at 13.

It’s been no looking back for the superstar rusher, as he’s earned a Pro Bowl selection in each year of his career, while tallying a minimum of 12 sacks in each of his four seasons in the league, with 52.5 sacks in four years, he’s on pace to be a truly generational defender in the NFL.

As a result, an extension feels inevitable, with Jones promising to make him the highest-paid non-quarterback before the 2024 season came to a close. But, with deals to Ja’Marr Chase, Myles Garrett, and T. J. Watt, that number has now crossed the $40 million mark.

That could be why a deal hasn’t come to fruition yet between the two sides. However, the history, particularly after last season, suggests that it is more the norm for Dallas. However, in recent weeks, the franchise owner has made some truly unsavory comments about his superstar defender.

Calling into question his production and injury history (he’s missed four total games in as many years), he even made the claim that Parsons wasn’t as beloved as Lamb by the fan base. All in all, it’s been a terrible look for Dallas.

However, for those who recognize the impact Parsons has on the team, a simple extension doesn’t quite cover his value. Michael Irvin, a three-time Super Bowl champion, five-time Pro Bowler, Hall of Famer, and one of the greatest wide receivers of all time, appeared on the Rich Eisen Show and compared the Nittany Lions alum to Mahomes.

“Do the same thing with Micah Parsons as the Kansas City Chiefs have done with Patrick Mahomes. If I’m Jerry, I’m stepping up and trying to get Micah Parsons 10 years and $450 million.” However, it isn’t just about making a statement for the three-time All-Pro selection.

Instead, he believes the length of the deal will allow the Cowboys to better spread the money depending on their needs and potentially backload it towards the end of the contract.

It would give them flexibility, secure Parsons for the long run, and make Jones and Dallas central news figures, as he so desperately wants.
