Who Are Dak Prescott’s Parents?

Prescott was born in July 1993 to Nathaniel and Peggy Prescott. The couple met in high school in 1979 and eventually married, but later divorced when Dak was in elementary school, maintaining a relationship as friends. Nathaniel has said in multiple interviews that while his and Peggy’s time as a couple ended, they were still the best of friends, with Dak agreeing.

Following the split, Peggy raised Dak and his siblings, and the family lived in a three-bedroom trailer in Haughton, Louisiana. His father moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked as a city bus driver, while Peggy managed a truck stop to support her children.

Peggy devoted everything to her kids, a sentiment echoed by everyone who knew her. Nathaniel, in an interview with Graham Bensinger, described her as “the ultimate football mom.” She was a loud, passionate presence at every game and got involved in whatever way she could.

Peggy was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in the summer of 2012. Despite the complications from her illness and treatment, she still attended as many of Dak’s games as possible, with help from her ex-husband. She passed away a year and a half later, in November 2013, at just 52 years old.

In a 2023 appearance on the Today Show, Dak shared stories of his mother while being an advocate for colon cancer treatment and advanced screening. After reminiscing on the good times, he wrapped up his lovely devotion to his mother, saying, “I am who I am because of my mom.”

Following her death, Prescott started the Faith Fight Finish Foundation to help fund colon cancer research and spread awareness through prevention. The foundation’s name comes from the words of encouragement Peggy would often say to Dak: Faith, Fight, Finish.

His work with the foundation helped him earn Walter Payton Man of the Year honors in 2022.

Prescott’s Siblings

Dak Prescott is the youngest of three sons born to Nathaniel and Peggy Prescott. His older brothers, Thaddeus (“Tad”) and Jace, were standout athletes at Haughton High School before Dak followed in their footsteps. Both played college football but were unable to make it to the pros like their younger brother.

In April 2020, tragedy struck when Jace died by suicide at the age of 31. The loss devastated the family, and Dak has been open about turning to counseling to cope with his grief. In his brother’s honor, the Cowboys quarterback incorporated mental health support and awareness efforts into the mission of his foundation.

Tad, the oldest of the three, married his wife, Holly, in March 2023. They have two children, a son, Jace, and a daughter, Kennedy. He now helps oversee the family’s business ventures and remains one of Dak’s most vocal supporters on social media.

Does Prescott Have a Kid?

Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos began dating in September 2023, when she was first spotted cheering him on during the Cowboys’ Week 1 win over the New York Giants. Since then, the couple has openly shared glimpses of their relationship on Instagram, often posting messages of love and encouragement. They got engaged on October 18, 2024.

In November 2023, they announced they were expecting a baby girl, and by March 2024, they joyfully introduced their first daughter, Margaret Jane Rose Prescott, to the world. Their family grew again in May 2025 with the arrival of their second daughter, Aurora Rayne.

The couple’s relationship highlights how grounded and supported Prescott remains off the field. While fans and critics can be fickle, one thing is clear: the Cowboys star always has a strong foundation of love and family behind him.
