During Saturday’s baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs, fans from both teams came together to chant, “Green Bay sucks.”
The two fan bases came together to share their disdain for the Green Bay Packers, who have a heated rivalry with the Chicago Bears.
What Is the Status of the Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers Rivalry?
After the fans chanted “Green Bay sucks,” the NFL world had plenty of reactions. Sports editor Dave Radcliffe summed up his thoughts by writing, “Rent Free.”
Radcliffe is an editor for the Waukesha Freeman, a newspaper based in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, so it is safe to assume that he is a Packers fan. He was saying the Packers live “rent free” in the minds of Chicago sports fans.
“Rivals united, even if only for a moment,” added one user about the White Sox and Cubs fans.

Another user added, “Good to know Cubs and White Sox fans agree on something.”
“When Cubs and White Sox fans are in agreement,” posted Eric Willuweit, co-host of PrimeTime Sports.
“Something we can all agree on,” Yahoo Sports Senior Producer Brandon Velaski wrote on X.
However, while the Chicago baseball fans reacted to the Packers, how should the Chicago football fans feel? So far, under head coach Ben Johnson, who has coached for only one season, the Packers-Bears games have been superb for Chicago. During the regular season, the two teams split. The first meeting was in week 14, when Green Bay led 14-3 at halftime, and Chicago made it close in the fourth quarter.
On a 4th and 1 from Green Bay’s 14-yard line, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams threw an interception to Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon. The two teams met only two weeks later, with the Bears victorious over Green Bay in overtime, 22-16. The iconic play from this matchup was a 46-yard dime from Williams to Bears wideout DJ Moore for the win.

After two close battles, the two franchises would meet again in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Chicago won the NFC North and hosted Green Bay. It looked like it would be a Green Bay blowout as they were up 21-3, but the Bears came back in the fourth quarter to win 31-27.
Heading into next year, both teams are going to look different, especially on the offensive side. Green Bay lost wideout Romeo Doubs to the New England Patriots in free agency, and the Bears traded Moore to the Buffalo Bills. Bears center Drew Dalman also retired.
With both teams losing part of their receiving core, each team will have to have a year-two wideout step up. For Green Bay, it will be Matthew Golden, who got a C grade and ranked 47th at his position last season, according to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric. For Chicago, it will be Rome Odunze who got a C grade and ranked 39th.
This year, the Bears and Packers will meet early on as Chicago travels to Green Bay in Week 5. The two clubs will also meet up in Week 16. Overall, the Packers and Bears rivalry is heating up again and should produce some great matchups.
