Just a few days ago, it seemed like Maxx Crosby might leave the Las Vegas Raiders. After a hectic week that included a failed trade to the Baltimore Ravens, Crosby confirmed he’s staying with the team. He posted a message to fans saying he is “a Raider” and plans to return in 2026.
Ryan Clark Suggests Philadelphia Eagles Could Pursue Maxx Crosby
Even with Crosby publicly recommitting to the Raiders, speculation around his long-term future has not fully disappeared. One Super Bowl champion recently suggested that another contender could still emerge as a potential landing spot for the All-Pro pass rusher if circumstances change later in the season.
ESPN analyst and former Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark mentioned the Philadelphia Eagles as a team that could be interested if Crosby becomes available again.
“Well, I think Howie is the guy,” Clark said, referring to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. “But that’s not to say he’s going to give you more than he has to give right now. I don’t think Howie overpays after what he saw with the Ravens.”
According to PFSN EDGE Impact, Crosby has been a top-two edge rusher in the NFL in four of the last five seasons, including last season, when he received an impact score of 95.3 and an A grade. He had 10 sacks, 20 QB hits, and 73 total tackles last season.
Last season, Crosby ranked second in PFSN’s EDGE Impact Metric with a 95.3 grade, trailing only Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett, who posted a 95.6 EDGEi grade. During the previous season, Crosby finished No. 1. The injury will be a concern, but past injuries have not slowed him down, and the Ravens’ decision to back out of the blockbuster trade has given a player who does not need more motivation an additional chip on his shoulder.
Philadelphia’s defense has changed a lot in recent years, especially on the defensive line. The Eagles still have talent in the secondary and inside, but they might need more help with their outside pass rush as the season goes on.
For that reason, Clark thinks the Eagles might try again for Crosby if they have trouble getting pressure on quarterbacks.
“We know one thing about the Philadelphia Eagles,” Clark continued. “It’s never too late until the trade deadline.”
Even so, as long as the NFL trade deadline is around and teams are searching for impact players, rumors about Crosby’s future will probably stick around. If the Eagles need a game-changing pass rusher later in the year, Roseman has shown he’s willing to make bold moves.
