‘Looking Forward to This Journey’ — Crissy Froyd Announces Major Career Move After Getting Fired for Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel Post

NFL journalist Crissy Froyd reveals major career pivot to law school after her termination due to the Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel scandal.

NFL journalist Crissy Froyd is refusing to let the fallout of the offseason’s biggest sports media scandal stall her momentum. Months after being abruptly dismissed from her role at USA Today Sports for publicly criticizing Dianna Russini, Froyd has announced a major career pivot that she promises will expand her footprint far beyond the gridiron.

Crissy Froyd Pivoting to Law School After Dianna Russini Scandal Fallout

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Froyd shared that she is expanding her professional horizons into the legal field while continuing her sports reporting.

“I am so excited to announce that in addition to my successful journalism career, I am going to law school for criminal defense,” Froyd wrote to her followers. “So looking forward to this journey!”

The announcement marks a defiant next chapter for her, whose media career took an unexpected turn in April 2026. Following the high-profile resignation of Russini from The Athletic, which was sparked by viral photographs of her and New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel at a resort in Sedona, Arizona, Froyd was one of the few reporters to go out of their way and publicly criticize Russini’s ethics.

At the time, Froyd’s viral post accusing Russini of causing “detriment to women in sports who have done things the right way” immediately pulled in millions of views, but it also led USA Today to sever ties with her within 48 hours for violating its corporate standards of professionalism.

Rather than backtracking or retreating from the spotlight, Froyd has doubled down on her stance. However, she never expected to go viral over it.

“It caught me off guard because I never expected this to happen,” Froyd told Mike J. Asti. “I thought that everyone, since all these people knew, and all these people told me from the time that I first hit the ground in the NFL. I was like, ‘Okay, everyone’s saying stuff, or at least I thought so.’”

Froyd has consistently signaled she is built for the friction, even leveraging her platform to track down and confront online trolls, even getting them fired, who targeted her following her termination.

But the limelight has also made her tired. Froyd is actively exploring legal avenues, having recently issued legal warnings to critics regarding false accusations.

“I’ve got too much going for me and am tired of this. I hope she’s found guilty of tampering as she is,” Froyd wrote on her X handle. “And I hope she sues me so I can demand discovery. Dianna, I wish you were worth a feather.”

As Froyd transitions into legal circles, it can be expected that her voice will only grow more formidable, even as major networks have largely maintained a quiet media blackout regarding internal investigations into the Vrabel-Russini scandal.
