Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles is one of the hottest prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, and there’s reason to believe the Dallas Cowboys might go after him. The draft is exactly one week away, and the football community is discussing, debating, and speculating about who’ll go where. Similarly, Styles has been thrown around between top picks, and now another trade scenario is on the table.
Mary Kay Cabot Weighs In on Browns Trading Down With Cowboys
The Cowboys are said to be on the hunt for a new defensive star following Micah Parsons’ move to the Green Bay Packers last year. In Parsons’s absence, Dallas logged the worst defensive performance in franchise history, surrendering an average of 30.1 points per game. According to PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric, they had the worst defense in the league last season.
Rumors surfaced in the NFL community that the Cowboys could trade up on draft night to secure Styles in the first round, with the Cleveland Browns floated as a trade partner.
Insider Mary Kay Cabot was asked on “The Ken Carman Show With Anthony Lima” about Cleveland’s likeliest move during the draft.
“I would say trade down,” Cabot said. “I think when you have all these people discussing and projecting and predicting this trade with the Cowboys, I think that’s more than just hearsay and rumor — there’s gotta be something probably coming out of Dallas that suggests they’re talking about this.”
Cleveland seems to keep its cards very close to its chest when it comes to offseason moves. As such, Cabot believes any possible information about a draft-night trade is being leaked from another team.
“I would say trade down. I think it’s more than hear say and just rumor. There’s gotta be something coming out of Dallas. I wouldn’t be shocked if that happens.”

“The Browns, they really lock it down,” she added. “They knew for months that they wanted to draft Dillon Gabriel last year. They knew for at least a month before that they were making that trade down with the Jaguars… If this is true, it’s probably coming out of Dallas, and everyone seems to think they would want Sonny Styles there. So there could just be something to it, and I wouldn’t be shocked if that [a trade] happens Thursday night.”
The Browns would naturally want to play it smart to get the new Todd Monken era off to a good start. Cleveland had another losing campaign last season at 5-12, and head coach Kevin Stefanski was fired after six years with the franchise.

After adding no new weapons on offense this offseason, expect Andrew Berry and the front office to make some intriguing selections next Thursday.
It’ll be interesting to see how they equip the roster for 2026, and whether a trade with the Cowboys materializes.
