The Dallas Cowboys are active at the trade deadline, seeking to bolster their defense as they aim to make a playoff run this year. Sitting at 3-5-1, they have a lot of work to do behind the 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
However, news broke on Tuesday that Dallas acquired a key piece it had been looking for.

Cowboys To Acquire Cincinnati Bengals Standout Linebacker at the Trade Deadline
NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that the Cowboys are finalizing a trade for Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson. He said that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on Monday that the team has made a trade ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline.
Cincinnati has reportedly been seeking a seventh-round pick for Wilson; however, what the Cowboys will ultimately give the Bengals for Wilson’s services is still unclear.
“A deal for Dallas: Cowboys are finalizing a trade to acquire Bengals MLB Logan Wilson, sources tell me and Todd Archer,” Schefter captioned his tweet.
“Earlier Monday, Jerry Jones told Stephen A. Smith that the Cowboys have made a trade ahead of Tuesday’s NFL deadline. It is expected to be for Wilson, for whom the Bengals have been seeking a sixth-round pick. Wilson signed four-year $36 million extension in July 2023 that still has two years remaining on it after this season.”

The linebacker is playing on a four-year extension worth $36 million that he signed in August 2023, and the contract runs til the end of the 2027 season.
Wilson has been a steady presence on the Bengals’ roster since entering the league in 2020, particularly in defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s pass defense. Across the first four campaigns of his NFL career, Wilson recorded 11 interceptions.

Recent years saw his fumble game ramp up, with five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries since the 2023 season.
The five years of league experience he already has under his belt could certainly aid a Cowboys defense that has surrendered 30 or more points in five of their last eight games, including two 40-point outings.
Dallas would also like to improve on the 277 points it has given up in nine games and the 3,577 yards it has also conceded.
Beyond the fact that the Cowboys are a mere one game away from the bottom of the NFC East, their biggest problem is that they currently sit far outside the playoff picture.
The NFC is a hyper-competitive conference this season, with two of its four divisions having three teams each with a winning record. Dallas might need more than one middle linebacker to stay in contention by any stretch.
