Shedeur Sanders had another poor performance Sunday, but his team was still able to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a major AFC North upset. The Cleveland Browns won their fourth game of the season by a 13-6 score, and the division will now be decided in a Week 18 matchup between the Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.
The win came despite another rough outing from Sanders, who threw for 186 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He continues to struggle at the professional level, with one specific play grabbing the attention of the broadcast team.
Tony Romo Calls Out Shedeur Sanders Following Poor Interception vs. Steelers
Former NFL quarterback Tony Romo was unimpressed after Sanders threw a costly interception. He let the ball hang in the air too long on a fourth-quarter pass with the Browns up 10-6, making life easy for Steelers safety Kyle Dugger. Dugger intercepted the ball and gave new life to the Steelers’ offense.
Romo criticized the young quarterback immediately after the throw. He pointed out that Shedeur “wanted it back,” while also saying, “That’s as poor of a decision as he’s made in his young career.” It was Sanders’ second interception of the game.

Sanders threw another interception earlier in the game, though he was hit on that first one, resulting in an easy play for the cornerback. Still, the second throw was a particularly disappointing decision that could have swung the game’s momentum. Fortunately for Cleveland, the defense delivered a strong performance.
The win likely hurt the Browns’ chances of positioning themselves for Fernando Mendoza at the top of the draft. The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants faced each other in Week 17, with the loser of that matchup all but securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
This was Sanders’ second win in six starts, the first being against the Raiders on Nov. 23. He continues to struggle with quick reads and holds the ball too long, allowing defenders time to close in. Despite the upset victory against the Steelers, he has done little to prove he can be a franchise quarterback.
Prior to Week 17, Shedeur was ranked No. 44 out of 46 qualified quarterbacks in PFSN’s QB Impact Metric. He is unlikely to move up many spots following his performance against the Steelers.
