With the Maxx Crosby trade cancelled one day before it became official, the five-time Pro Bowler will once again be the subject of trade talks. Crosby already said goodbye to the Las Vegas Raiders, and even if he’s not going to the Baltimore Ravens, he’ll be playing for another team in 2026.
Dallas Cowboys Unlikely to Engage in Fresh Round of Trade Talks for Crosby
NFL insider Dianna Russini revealed on Tuesday night that the Cowboys won’t be that team. Although there was interest from Dallas in acquiring Crosby, Russini wrote that the franchise is “not expected to re-engage” in discussions involving the 28-year-old EDGE.
On Friday, before the announcement of a trade with the Ravens, the Cowboys were on a list of teams that could be involved in a deal, with the Chicago Bears completing the list. It’s unclear whether the Bears will explore a new deal for the defender.
The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to re-engage in Maxx Crosby trade discussions at this time, a high-ranking source tells The Athletic.

Cowboys reporter Jane Slater confirmed the news that the Cowboys won’t be exploring a deal for Crosby, mentioning the announced deal for Green Bay Packers EDGE Rashan Gary as their new addition to the position.
As soon as news emerged that the Ravens were backing off the deal, there was widespread criticism of general manager Eric DeCosta’s handling of the situation. Jason La Canfora reported that multiple general managers did not buy the story of a failed physical and believed that Baltimore just backed off the deal.
Can confirm. A team source tells me “we moved on with Rashan Gary, etc” https://t.co/KI2OVWPyTy

LaCanfora also noted that the current situation could complicate things for DeCosta in the future, with teams and agents losing confidence in the general manager afterward.
When the dust is settled, the fact is that a superstar EDGE will be available for trades again. PFSN’s NFL EDGE Impact Metric is bullish on Crosby. Last season, he was ranked No. 2 at the position with an impressive grade of 95.3. The Raiders were the league’s worst team, but that didn’t stop him from having another incredible season.
Crosby had 10 sacks in 15 games. The Cowboys, who ranked as the worst defense in the league per our PFSN Defense Impact Metric, could certainly use a player of his caliber to turn their fortunes around. Whatever the price, whoever acquires Crosby will get a player who’s even more motivated now.
