The Dallas Cowboys are still trying to figure out how to keep their offense rolling without CeeDee Lamb. Their star wideout went down with a high-ankle sprain in Week 3, and while the offense has had moments, it’s clear his absence is being felt.
Cowboys Tie on Sunday Night, Bring in Veteran to Practice Squad
That was on full display in Sunday’s wild 40-40 tie against the Green Bay Packers. George Pickens came through in a big way, putting up eight catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns, including a handful of highlight plays. Jalen Tolbert added 61 yards, and tight end Jake Ferguson chipped in 40.
Still, the Cowboys couldn’t quite match the firepower of Green Bay’s Romeo Doubs, who stole the show with three touchdown grabs of his own.
Knowing they needed more depth, the Cowboys decided to make a move. On Tuesday, Dallas re-signed wide receiver Parris Campbell, who had initially joined the team on a one-year deal in March.

Campbell was waived during training camp after suffering an injury, but now that he’s healthy again, the Cowboys are giving him another shot, this time starting on the practice squad.
Campbell’s career has been both promising and frustrating. The Indianapolis Colts selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and his speed and ability to create plays after the catch gave him glimpses of being a big-play threat.
But injuries have often held him back, limiting his ability to string together consistent seasons. His best year came in 2022, when he scored 623 yards over 17 games. Since then, he’s had stints with the Giants and even the Eagles, where he was part of a Super Bowl roster.
Paris Campbell Hopes to Help Offense Without CeeDee Lamb
For the Cowboys, the hope is simple: If Campbell can stay healthy, he might add a spark to an offense that badly needs one while Lamb heals up. His speed could give Dak Prescott another weapon and force defenses to think twice about focusing too much on Pickens.
Of course, the current spotlight is on Pickens, who has the talent to carry the load. Dallas will rely heavily on him in the coming weeks, but contributions from Tolbert, Ferguson, and maybe even Campbell could make the difference between staying afloat and competing. Currently, the team is graded B+ with an Offense Impact Score of 89.6 on PFSN’s Offense Impact (OFFi).
Lamb has been their preferred player for a reason. Thus, the Cowboys can’t completely replace him. However, if Campbell can regain even a small portion of his 2022 performance, this “second chance” acquisition might be crucial as Dallas tries to maintain its position in the tough NFC.
