The Dallas Cowboys love to stay in the news, especially when owner Jerry Jones is in front of a microphone making a media appearance. On Monday, while doing an interview with Stephen A. Smith on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio, Jones dropped some news.
The Cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals on “Monday Night Football” with the entire ESPN crew there, including Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the call. But Jones had a little tidbit to offer Cowboys and NFL fans.

What Did Jerry Jones Announce On Monday?
While discussing the Cowboys, Jones mentioned that the team had made a trade.
Cowboys reporter Jon Machota of The Athletic posted on X about the news that Jones dropped in the interview.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones @SIRIUSXM just said Dallas has made a trade and could possibly make a couple of more before tomorrow’s deadline. He declined to share who is involved in the trade.

“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones (in an appearance on) @SIRIUSXM just said Dallas has made a trade and could possibly make a couple of more before tomorrow’s deadline,” Machota wrote. “He declined to share who is involved in the trade. Jones: ‘Immediately it will have him on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings.'”
Because of Jones’s lack of details at the moment, it’s not clear who Dallas picked up or who they might have traded. More details are expected to be released in the coming hours on Monday.
The Cowboys enter Monday night’s matchup against the Cardinals with a 3-4-1 record and are looking up at the NFC East Division-leading and defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the standings.
As for Arizona, it comes into the contest with a 2-5 record in the NFC West Division and has three teams in the division – the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Rams – all with six wins on the 2025 NFL season already.
Dallas has needed to shore up its defensive front ever since Jones traded defensive end Micah Parsons away to the Green Bay Packers. Jones also had a few choice words to say on Monday about Parsons in his interview. Coming into Week 9, Dallas has the second-worst defense in the league based on PFSN’s Defense Impact metric.
When Jones and the Cowboys make it clear what this trade was about, some light will be shed on which area of the team was directly affected in this move. Jones might want to wait until game time on Monday night to fully reveal the trade details.
