The Dallas Cowboys news cycle underwent a significant update after the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, with the Texas team being named as the most likely destination for Maxx Crosby. Given this situation, a franchise legend sent a positive message regarding the possibility of the defensive end coming to Dallas.
Dallas Cowboys Celebrate the Possibility of Signing Maxx Crosby
In a short message on social media, Dez Bryant said, “Maxx Crosby, it’s only right!” in response to rumors surrounding the player’s possible signing with Dallas. If a deal is reached, Crosby’s arrival will be instrumental in making the franchise a Super Bowl contender.
At the start of the 2025 season, the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, and the Dallas defense never fully recovered from that loss, struggling to pressure opposing quarterbacks throughout the season. Crosby, however, can fill that technical and leadership void.
Crosby Has a Strained Relationship With the Raiders
The relationship between Crosby and the Raiders became strained at the end of 2025 because the DE was deeply dissatisfied when the team placed him on injured reserve (IR) for the final games to preserve his health, despite his desire to play.
In addition, the Raiders have the first overall pick in the 2026 Draft and may be inclined to completely rebuild their roster. It is estimated that Las Vegas will demand up to two first-round picks and a high-level player to make a deal, but Dallas may invest in a veteran to improve the defense instead of using the 12th pick in the NFL Draft on a promising rookie.
Crosby recorded 73 tackles, 10 sacks, and one interception last season for the Raiders (who rank No. 21 in the PFSN Defense Impact metric with a C- grade). Having a player of this caliber on a defensive line that already features names like Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark would transform Dallas into one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Finally, it is worth noting that Crosby’s contract is significant. The DE has an estimated cap hit of nearly $35.8 million for 2026 (via Spotrac), and for the Dallas franchise, which also needs to deal with the renewal or tagging of other players (notably George Pickens), this operation would require complex financial engineering on the part of general manager Jerry Jones.
There is an expectation that Crosby’s situation with the Raiders will be resolved by the end of this week, which will make the Cowboys even more anxious.
