Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold struggled massively for the majority of the game against the Los Angeles Rams at Lumen Field on “Thursday Night Football.”
His performance even drew boos from “The 12th Man,” those Seahawks fans who pack the stadium for every home game. Darnold threw his first interception of the game in the third quarter, and it drew the ire of former NFL players and even media personalities.
What Were People Saying About Seahawks QB Sam Darnold?
The play in question was when Darnold stepped back to pass and was trying to connect with a Seattle wide receiver to the left.
But Darnold threw the pass without a single Seahawks receiver nearby, and the Rams’ Josh Wallace had an easy interception. Wallace then darted down the field and reached the 1-yard line.

After watching that play take place, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant headed out to X and posted, “Sam Darnold people.” Longtime sports commentator Skip Bayless also had a few words to say, writing, “Same Darnold.”
Emmanuel Acho of the “Speakeasy” show had this to say after watching that first interception: “Sam Darnold has to stop throwing AWFUL INTERCEPTIONS in the biggest games!” Danny Parkins of “First Things First” headed over to X and posted, “Welp, that’s gonna be tough for Darnold. Big yikes.”

49ers on SI publisher Grant Cohn said on X, “Darnold gonna Darnold.”
Darnold threw another awful interception at the goal line, and a Rams’ defensive lineman picked that off. The boo birds rained down on the Seahawks quarterback, but a punt return after from Rashid Shaheed got the score closer.
According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Darnold has an impact score of 81.9 and grades out to a B-. Needless to say, the Seattle fans want to see better play out of Darnold as the Rams were up 30-22 in the fourth quarter.
Well, Darnold showed off his arm in the fourth quarter, connecting with AJ Barner on a big touchdown. Seattle then converted the two-point conversion, and the game was tied 30-30 with less than seven minutes on the clock. The fans are already back on their feet now, cheering for Darnold and their players.
