The Dallas Cowboys stunned fans by handing defensive tackle Quinnen Williams a massive $105.9 million, three-year contract extension on Monday.
Soon after that, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones addressed the extension during a training camp press conference at River Ridge Playing Fields.
However, some of his comments quickly caught the attention of Cowboys fans. In particular, a section of supporters believes Jones took an indirect shot at Micah Parsons.
Did Cowboys Boss Stephen Jones Diss Micah Parsons?
While discussing Williams’ deal, Jones focused heavily on his work ethic and approach to the game. He praised the defensive tackle for setting an example through his preparation rather than relying on his reputation.
“He’s a great player and one of the hardest practicing guys out there,” he said. “Every time he lines up, you feel him. He doesn’t take anything for granted. He doesn’t say, ‘Hey, I got this. I’ll let my play do the talking.’ You see it.
“He’s the best player on the field whenever he’s out there. The other thing is just what a man he is. He’s a leader. We didn’t have a lot of leadership on defense for the last couple of years. To have him and Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary. I think they really picked it up over there in terms of the culture and the leadership.”
Those comments did not take long to reach Cowboys fans on social media. With Parsons now away from Dallas, some supporters immediately connected Jones’ emphasis on leadership, practice habits, and letting his play speak for itself to the former star.
“He’s basically talking [expletive] to Micah without mentioning him lmao. I love this version of the front office man,” one fan wrote.
Another fan added, “Micah Parsons smear campaign like the Joneses aren’t the worst front office in the league?😂”

Another Cowboys fan saw the comments as an obvious message from the front office.
“Holy shots fired 😭🤣😭🤣,” a fan wrote.
Another fan focused on Jones’ remarks about the lack of defensive leadership in recent years.
“Throwing shots in I [expletive] love it cuz we didn’t have a leader over the last 3-5 years.”
Whether Jones intended to reference Parsons remains unclear, but Cowboys fans clearly heard the message differently.
The whole Parsons saga with the Cowboys began when the star pass rusher entered the final year of his rookie contract this time last year, seeking a major extension. Dallas hesitated to match Parsons’ lofty expectations and reportedly discussed figures well below the market reset he wanted.
Soon, the contract dispute grew into a much bigger problem. Parsons staged a “hold-in” during training camp, refusing to fully participate while the sides remained apart.
Meanwhile, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones publicly criticized Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, and accused him of derailing a record-setting agreement that the two sides had reportedly reached.
The tension reached its breaking point in preseason. Parsons formally requested a trade and made it clear that he no longer wanted to remain in Dallas.
Dallas eventually completed the blockbuster move by sending its first-team All-Pro defender to the Green Bay Packers. In return, the Cowboys landed defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks.
However, Dallas has now turned the page. With Parsons gone, the front office is building a different core heading into the season.
