The Dallas Cowboys won their fourth game of the season on Monday, winning 33-16 against the Las Vegas Raiders and keeping their NFC East hopes alive. Despite the Philadelphia Eagles having a sizeable lead, they still have an opportunity to fight with their next game against their rivals.
The win on Monday Night Football came on the back of a great performance of the passing game. This caught the attention after George Pickens, who’s in a contract year, finished with nine receptions, 144 yards, and a touchdown. With a contract extension looming, Dez Bryant offered advice for the receiver.
Dez Bryant Warns George Pickens To Choose Legacy Over Money
Bryant made history during his time with the Cowboys. He was their best receiver over the past decade. As such, he has had to deal with Jerry Jones for a long time and knows how the owner works in negotiations.
Bryant’s message to Pickens was to think about his legacy regarding a new contract with Dallas, instead of choosing the best financial offer that’s available to him in free agency:
“George Pickens..I want you to understand that whenever it’s time to negotiate your new contract..your legacy will be worth more than being the highest paid wide receiver..if you stayed with Cowboys. There’s a lot more to the thought process, but think about it,” Bryant wrote.
“If I were Jerry… I would respectfully go in a different direction than DC Eberflus…not because he’s a bad coach. I would offer Al Harris the DC job and let him find his defensive support,” he added.

Pickens was traded to the Cowboys during the offseason, but the two sides decided to let the season play out before signing an extension. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $6.7 million deal signed in 2022 after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Once he signs a new deal, his salary will skyrocket, and deservedly so. But it’s not a given that it will happen in Dallas. They already have Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb in huge contracts. Jerry Jones could think twice about signing another receiver to a big extension.
The Cowboys are also not afraid of letting great players move. The Micah Parsons trade in August proves that Jerry Jones is not going to budge if he doesn’t think that the price is right.
Pickens is currently ranked as No. 3 in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric, with an impact score of 88.6. Only Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua have better rankings. He has been a great addition for Dallas despite their 4-5-1 record. If they manage to keep him after 2025, this could be a home run move.
