Cowboys Predicted To Select 24-TD RB in 2026 NFL Draft To Bolster Dak Prescott-Led Offense

The Cowboys are predicted to pick a running back to potentially replace Javonte Williams in a 2026 NFL Mock Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the NFL this year, with Dak Prescott emerging as a candidate to be named MVP. They appear to have hit home runs with new additions George Pickens and Javonte Williams, but both of them are pending free agency. This contributes to why they picked a new running back in a recent 2026 mock draft.

Cowboys Pick RB in 2026 NFL Mock Draft

The Cowboys have had a revolving door at running back in recent years ever since Ezekiel Elliot retired. They started the past two years with Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle, respectively, before making Williams their third Week 1 starter in as many years.

He has excelled with his new team, currently ranking tenth among all running backs in PFSN’s Impact Rankings for this year. The potential issue is that he is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season, and Jerry Jones has recently demonstrated a reluctance to hand out significant contracts to he position since Elliot.

Ian Cummings has presented a potential solution in his most recent 2026 NFL Mock Draft. He predicts that they will select Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Jadarian Price with the 113th overall pick in the fourth round. This could potentially give them a long-term solution for the position at a much cheaper price tag than what Williams is likely to command during the upcoming offseason.

Price has been a solid contributor during his college football career, including recording 1,854 scrimmage yards and 24 total touchdowns across three seasons with the Irish. He has scored 13 of those touchdowns during the 2025 season in his third consecutive year, averaging more than six yards per touch.

Making his numbers even more impressive is that he currently plays behind superstar running back Jeremiyah Love, one of the best overall players in the country. This limits Price’s upside in college football, but his elite efficiency demonstrates that he can potentially be a star if ever given the opportunity to be a featured back in the right system.

This is where the Cowboys could be an ideal fit for him, especially if they do, in fact, move on from Williams in the offseason. They can provide a favorable situation in Prescott’s offense, which includes a dominant passing attack that often opens up the rushing game. Dowdle and Williams have thrived for the Cowboys recently, so Price can theoretically do the same.
