The release of new information regarding the scandal between Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini could have an impact around the league.
On Wednesday, TMZ released new details about the scandal involving Vrabel and Russini. They reportedly rented a private boat together back in June 2021 when the former was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. And the timing coincided with a major move in the NFL that could raise questions.
Did Dianna Russini’s Report Lower the Price of Julio Jones in 2021 Trade?
Julio, who spent a decade with the Atlanta Falcons and was one of the most dominant receivers in the league, was shipped to Tennessee on June 6, 2021. Coverage of a possible deal caught the eye of Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk, who connected the dots and raised questions about its timing.
With Julio on the trade block following the 2020 season, Russini reported that offers for the receiver even included a first-round pick. Florio suggested, on April 23, that her report might have shaped negotiations with Atlanta.
“Putting out the word that the Falcons had been offered a first-round pick could have had a chilling effect on any team that may have been considering offering a second-round pick. Calling the Titans a ‘long shot’ allowed them to maneuver quietly for Jones.”
With TMZ revealing on Wednesday that the pair was together around the time of the trade, Florio’s theory might be right. And this has caught the attention of analysts around the sports world. Tony Farmer, host of the Last Men Standing podcast, raised the same suggestion in a video posted on his Twitter and called the situation “a very big development”:
“This is the big piece that nobody else has connected yet. Julio Jones was traded to the Titans on June 6, 2021. The TMZ article doesn’t say what date in June it was. But what this tells us is that, right around the Julio Jones trade, within days or weeks, these two were very close physically.”

While this has been the subject of much talk in the offseason, the NFL has nothing to do with the personal lives of Vrabel and Russini. However, her reports and the possibility that this could have changed the price of a player in the league is a different matter.
Calls for an investigation into her reports have been started by the NFL World. “Hollywood J”, who hosts a Philadelphia Eagles podcast named “Way Outside The Nest“, called for Roger Goodell to step up and start an investigation into a possible collusion.
“Russini lowered Julio Jones trade value so he could get traded to the Titans. Goodell needs to step in already, this is collusion.”

But it doesn’t stop there. Before her resignation, Russini was the reporter who seemed to be the most hands-on about the situation between A.J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown is widely expected to be traded in June to the New England Patriots, the team that Vrabel currently coaches.
Tom Stakes, an influencer who follows the Philadelphia Eagles, also joined the dots. His view suggests that Vrabel used Russini to report on Brown’s trade market, thus lowering his price in the expected deal with the Patriots.
Dianna Russini reported that the Falcons had a 1st round pick on the table for Julio Jones and then Mike Vrabel’s Titans got him for a 2nd round pick.
She tried to do the same thing with AJ Brown: Blow the top off the trade early so Vrabel could get him for a discount.

At this time, the NFL has not given any indication that an investigation is starting. But the scrutiny will be massive in the next few weeks, especially with new material involving the scandal emerging every week. The controversy is showing no signs of slowing down.
