The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL this season. They are playing like one of the best teams in football and have the record to show for it. Sitting at 6-2 and first in the NFC West, the Seahawks are destined for postseason play. One player who can help them get their is veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp. He has not played since Week 7, but he is trending toward returning to practice this week.
Cooper Kupp Expected To Be at Practice
With most players, you can gauge their likelihood of playing in the game by whether they are able to practice during the week. According to Brian Nemhauser, Kupp is expected to “be out there to some degree” for practice on Wednesday. While the Seahawks did not have an official practice on Wednesday, it is good to hear Kupp was available for the walk-through.
We will have a better idea of Kupp’s availability for Sunday once the team practices on Thursday and Friday. If he can do something in the next two days, there is a good chance he could return to the lineup.

It will be interesting to see what Kupp’s role will be in the Seahawks’ offense now that they have acquired wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints. He was the Seahawks’ significant trade deadline addition, and he will likely slot in opposite to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The trade for Shaheed also means we could see Kupp in the slot more often, and that is a spot where he has feasted in his career. It is clear Kupp is no longer the same player he was with the Rams, but he can still get open and remain productive. In PFSN’s WR Impact Metrics, he has a score of 75.5 this season, which ranks 42nd in the NFL.
No one was looking at the Seahawks as serious NFC West threats entering the season, but some key offseason moves have them right in the thick of things. The addition of Sam Darnold was franchise-changing. He is playing at an elite level, and no one thought that was likely after he left Minnesota.
The Seahawks coaching staff deserves plenty of credit for continuing to develop Darnold and the rest of their roster. This is a team that is not just a threat this season but should remain a problem in the NFC for years to come.
