The Washington Commanders were hit hard by the injury bug early in the 2025 season, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Wide receiver Noah Brown is one of the players who has battled injuries thus far.
Unfortunately for Brown and the Commanders, recent news on his injury status was not positive. Here’s the latest on the Commanders’ veteran wide receiver.
Is Noah Brown Placed on Injured Reserve?
“The Commanders have placed WR Noah Brown on Injured Reserve, knocking him out the next four games,” said NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. “He’s dealing with a groin injury.”

In limited action in 2025, Brown caught three of three targets for 36 yards. He established himself as a valuable veteran presence for Jayden Daniels in 2024, catching 35 of 56 targets for 453 yards and a touchdown, the touchdown coming on the improbable Hail Mary pass from Daniels against the Chicago Bears.
Brown hasn’t played with his groin injury since the Commanders’ week two loss to the Green Bay Packers. He left that game with the injury, and while the hope was that he wouldn’t miss much time, Brown and the team clearly misjudged the severity of the injury.
“Hindsight is 20-20 . . . The main thing is to get him right,” said Commanders’ head coach Dan Quinn when asked why Brown wasn’t put on injured reserve sooner.
Dan Quinn said Brown would not require surgery on his groin. On why they didn’t put him on IR earlier: “hindsight is 20-20…the main thing is to get him right.”

With Terry McLaurin out for three games, Austin Ekeler out for the season, and Jayden Daniels out for two games, Brown’s loss has been felt even more.
Despite the myriad of injuries, Washington’s offense has remained effective. They rank as the No. 5 offense in PFSN’s 2025 offense impact rankings, with an 87.6 (B+) score. Washington ranks seventh in the league with 26.3 points per game and is tied for the league’s second-most effective rushing offense with 151 yards per game.
The Commanders have a 3-3 record through six weeks of the 2025 season and trail the Philadelphia Eagles by one game in the NFC East. Luckily for Washington, they are starting to get some pieces back. Daniels returned from a knee sprain in week five, and McLaurin is getting closer to a return and will practice this week, according to Quinn.

It’s unclear if McLaurin will play in week seven against the Dallas Cowboys, but his return to practice is a very positive sign and indicates he is trending in the right direction towards a return in the next week or two. If McLaurin were to miss again, Daniels would continue to rely more heavily on Deebo Samuel, Zach Ertz, Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, and Chris Moore.
Washington will hope for speedy recoveries for Brown and McLaurin while shifting their focus to the divisional matchup with the Cowboys in week seven. The status of both wide receivers will be worth monitoring over the coming weeks as Washington hopes to get back to full strength.
