Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen must be looking up to the sky and wondering what else can happen to his starting quarterback situation.
Daniel Jones, who was leading the Colts downfield in the first quarter, suffered a non-contact injury. It was later revealed that Jones was out for the rest of the Colts’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with an Achilles injury.
Meanwhile, Anthony Richardson Sr., who has played some time as the Colts’ starting quarterback, is also out with an injury. With this situation unfolding, who can Steichen turn to on his depth chart?
What Does Colts’ Depth Chart Look Like At QB?
Jones’ injury brought an outpouring of reactions from NFL fans who saw him go down.
Jones tried to stand up and walk a little bit, but eventually went back down to the turf as Colts medical personnel came to check on him. Ultimately, Jones was seen walking back to the Colts’ locker room with that personnel surrounding him.

Earlier this season, Richardson underwent surgery to repair his orbital fracture and could return from injured reserve later this season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported at the time.
Who is left on the Colts’ depth chart at quarterback? According to what’s listed on ESPN, the Colts now have to turn to Riley Leonard. Leonard was the Colts’ sixth-round draft choice out of Notre Dame in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The only action Leonard has seen so far this season was throwing two passes, both incomplete, in an Indianapolis 38-14 win over the lowly Tennessee Titans. But he’s the one that Steichen has to send out there for the rest of Sunday’s game.
Leonard came on the field with Jacksonville up 21-7 in the second quarter and completed a 29-yard pass to an open wide receiver. Leonard is going to have to carry the load as the Colts have to now trust running back Jonathan Taylor for the bulk of their offense.
Behind Leonard, rookie tight end Tyler Warren is listed as the other available option at quarterback for the Colts.
Before leaving Sunday’s game in rainy Jacksonville, Jones completed 5-of-7 passing for 60 yards and one interception. There’s no further word on Jones’ condition, other than he will not be returning to play against the Jaguars. According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Jones has an impact score of 86.6 and grades out to a B.
The Colts entered Sunday’s game with an 8-4 record and right in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Minus Jones, though, that all might change in the coming weeks. Indianapolis probably will have more information on Jones’ injury after the game.
