The Indianapolis Colts, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, have enjoyed one of the most positively surprising seasons of any NFL team in 2025. Thanks in part to consistent quarterback play, the Colts have maintained control of the AFC South division with an 8-3 record through 12 weeks.
On Thursday, news was shared that will heavily impact the Colts’ season hopes. However, it’s unclear when Jones suffered a fractured fibula, though he will try to play through the injury. With such a serious ailment, Colts fans have had a multitude of reactions across social media after a video of Jones practicing surfaced.
How have Colts fans initially reacted to the video and news?
While sharing a video of Jones looking stiff on a play-action drop-back, one user expressed shock, saying, “How we’re allowing someone to play on a fractured fibula is beyond me. Let alone the starting QB…” while others shared their disappointment, stating,” Can’t say it doesn’t look awful. What a ride it’s been.”
Other posters questioned the Colts’ decision-making, remarking, “Looks painful. Now I don’t have a doctorate degree, but I don’t think playing with a fractured fibula is a wise decision.”
One user even shared their plan to get Jones healthy for the playoffs, theorizing,” Get Richardson off IR. Get a playoff spot. Let Richardson take over so Jones can rest for playoffs.”
Various other posts poked fun at the situation or further criticized the organization.
Sure that’ll hold up well against Will Anderson

Though Jones looks to be prepared to play through the injury, there’s plenty of reason for Colts fans to be concerned. It’s unclear whether Jones will be able to maintain his MVP-level of play for the rest of the season, as such an injury could severely impact his mobility.
While being at the helm for Indianapolis, Jones has thrown for 2,840 yards – fourth in the league, as well as 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions on a 69.1% completion percentage. To further back up his success, PFSN’s QB impact grades have given him an 87.3 grade, good enough for fifth in the league.
Although the Colts’ offense has had the most success on the ground, with Jonathan Taylor’s 1,197 yards leading the way, Jones has undoubtedly been an integral reason why the Colts are at the top of their division.
Next up, Indianapolis plays the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Seattle Seahawks before the playoffs come into view. These formidable defenses would’ve been a difficult test for a healthy Jones, and now that he’s injured, they’ll have to rely on the run game now more than ever.
