Colston College Career Overview and Draft Projection

Colston Loveland committed to the University of Michigan after a standout high school career that ͏included 23͏5 receptions, ͏3,139͏ ͏receiving yards, and 35 touchdowns. He chose Michigan amid offers from Alabama, LSU, and UC͏LA.

At Michigan, Loveland emerged as a consistent playmaker. In 2͏022, he was named the͏ team’s Offensive and Co-Speci͏al Teams Rookie of the Year͏. He earned First Team All-Big Ten honors in 2023 and followed up with͏ Second Team honors in͏ 2024, despite missing time due to a ͏shoulder injury.

In 2024, he set the school’s single-season record for tight end receptions (56) and added 582 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns. Heading into the draft, he ranks as the No. 1 tight end prospect by CBS and No. 2 on the consensus big board.

NFL Outlook and Scouting Report

Loveland brings an impressive physical profile at 6-foot-6, 248 pounds with a 79-inch wingspan and 10-inch hands. His receiving skills stand out, he’s agile for his size, has strong route awareness, and catches the ball well outside his frame. He’s͏ drawn comparisons to Darren Waller for his receiving upside.

While concerns exist around Colston’s limited route tree, average burst, and post-catch production, his ceiling is high. Teams seeking a reliable and athletic receiving tight end will find value early in the draft. His recovery from a shoulder injury will be monitored, but with full clearance expected by training camp, he remains one of the top tight end prospects for 2025.
