Top games to watch today

Unlike Week 0, there are a plethora of college football games to watch today. However, some are noticeably more eye-catching than others. These games are must-watch TV for your Thursday evening!

Boise State at UCF

Not only is it one of the top college football games today, but Boise State at UCF might be one of the best games of the entire Week 1 slate. “The Duel outside Disney World,” “Handsome Hank vs. Dazzling Dillon,” call it what you want — this game promises to be electric.

The two teams are perennial contenders at the top of their conferences. Having been overshadowed last season, you can guarantee that both teams will come out with all guns firing. Additionally, both programs have new head coaches who will be determined to get their reign off to a winning start.

While Boise State head coach Andy Avalos’ defensive background will prove invaluable in containing a traditionally high-powered UCF offense, Gus Malzahn has never lost a home opener. The Knights start as favorites, and star quarterback Dillon Gabriel should ensure they kick start the season with a win.

Ohio State at Minnesota

Remember the Ferrero Rocher commercial where the Ambassador served up a pyramid of the delicious chocolate treat, and the guests exclaimed, “with this Rocher, you are really spoiling us?” In college football’s early scheduling, we’re the party guest, the Big Ten conference is the Ambassador, and the Ferrero Rocher is some delicious early-season all-conference clashes.

We were treated to Nebraska and Illinois in Week 0, and now Ohio State at Minnesota highlights today’s college football games.

Although they faltered last fall, Minnesota is being touted by many to be the biggest challenger to Ohio State in the conference. They return quarterback Tanner Morgan and have an experienced offensive line. Mohamed Ibrahim is one of the best running backs in college football. Furthermore, their defense is led by an ascending 2022 NFL Draft prospect in Boye Mafe.

With all that being said, you’d be foolish to bet against the Buckeyes in this one. Despite having a first-year starter under center in C.J. Stroud, Ohio State has the best wide receiver duo in the nation, two incredibly talented offensive tackles, and a solid defensive line. They also haven’t lost to the Gophers since 2000 and hold a 45-7 head-to-head record.
