NFL Analyst Slams Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones, Predicts Dallas To ‘Unravel’ in 2026: ‘They Are a Mess’

An NFL analyst forecasts a disastrous 2026 season for the Dallas Cowboys, blaming Jerry Jones for the team's messy operations and inability to handle adversity.

The Dallas Cowboys were the talk of the town last offseason with the Micah Parsons saga. Jerry Jones is always making headlines for his actions with the Cowboys and takes a lot of heat for them. It’s not any different today, as one NFL analyst went right after Jones and predicted a disastrous season for the Cowboys.

NFL Analyst Predicts a Dallas Downfall in 2026

The Cowboys didn’t have a good season in 2025. Their defense was abysmal for much of the season, and their explosive offense couldn’t keep their team afloat.

Even after adding key pieces on defense like Logan Wilson and Quinnen Williams, there was very little change. NFL analyst Colin Cowherd expects the 2026 season to be worse, with the Cowboys plummeting to the bottom of the league.

“I think they unravel. They are a mess. Jerry Jones is a businessman, how can you be this much of a mess?” said Cowherd.

Adversity is a problem for Dallas. They fail when it matters, and for Cowherd, it starts at the top with Jones’ poor management of the team. Cowherd says that Jones is running a mess of an operation. A bad start to 2025 put them behind their foes. After clawing their way back into contention after beating the Chiefs and Eagles, they crumbled and fell out of contention.

The Cowboys are desperate to end their 30-year Super Bowl drought, but there looks to be no end in sight. Every season, something goes wrong, or the team can’t get itself in order in the big moments.

The past few offseasons have been headlined by contract disputes between Jones and their star players. They’ll likely be stuck in one again when they likely put the franchise tag on star WR George Pickens. A career year for Pickens is going to land him a large paycheck, whether the Cowboys give it to him this offseason or he’ll have to wait.

If the Cowboys dish out another major contract on offense, the defensive worries will continue to linger. The offense ranked 6th in PFSN’s Offense Impact score and couldn’t lead them to a winning record. Offensive regression could see Cowherd’s prediction play out, and Jones will be under fire once again.

A dangerous reality for Dallas is that they wouldn’t have their first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft as long as they are worse than the Packers, because it would go to the Jets in compensation for Williams. At least they’ll have the Packers pick, though, if 2026 turns disastrous. But fans will be praying that Cowherd is wrong.

Dallas fans are getting impatient and are itching to see their team succeed again. As long as Jones is running the show, Cowherd predicts the team to keep trending in the wrong direction.
