‘We Just Lost to Some Elves’ – Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase Doubles Down on Browns Slander

The Cincinnati Bengals' 24-3 loss wasn't enough to keep WR Ja'Marr Chase from taking more shots at the Cleveland Browns.

If you thought the Cincinnati Bengals learned anything from their “Burrowhead” comments ahead of losing the AFC Championship Game to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in January, think again.

Ahead of the season opener in Cleveland, Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was talking about the Browns when he said, “I almost called them the Elves.” The comment created an obvious stir in the Cleveland locker room and across the city.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase Comments After Week 1 Loss

Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium, the Browns defense dominated the Bengals offense and held Chase to five catches for 39 yards on nine targets. After the game in the locker room, Chase addressed the comment unprompted when asked how disappointing the loss felt.

“It’s frustrating because I called they a** ‘elves’, and we just lost to some elves,” Chase said. “So I’m pissed on my part.”

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett reportedly made a big deal about the comments, using it as bulletin board material. Asked about that, Chase said, “S***, he just want to have some attention.”

Given Chase’s comments and the 24-3 comeuppance, there certainly will be blowback this week. Chase said he’s unconcerned.

“If they don’t want me saying something that I’m saying now, they soft,” Chase said. “If they’re soft with me saying ‘elves,’ they’re soft then.”

At that point, a reporter asked Chase, “Ja’Marr, what’s their team name again?”

Chase’s response: “Stop being messy, bro. Get outta here.”

At that point, Chase ended the interview.
