In Week 12, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football at 8:20 p.m. EST.
Despite sitting at the top of the NFC South, the Buccaneers have been without some of their best players due to injury. Todd Bowles has provided the media with insight into Chris Godwin’s recovery.

Will Chris Godwin Play on Sunday Night Football?
Godwin’s season started in Week 4 of the regular season after he recuperated from an ankle fracture that he suffered in late 2024. Godwin sustained a new injury a week later in the team’s Week 5 win over the Seattle Seahawks with what was reported as a fibula injury.
Godwin’s status has been uncertain for the past few weeks, but the injury was never reported as a season-ending one.
With a new week of practice underway, Bowles has offered a slight update on Godwin’s status for the week. He reported that, “Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder), Chris Godwin (fibula) will be worked in more during practice this week.”
The quote doesn’t offer a lot of insight into Godwin’s status this week, but it sounds as if he’s taking the next step in his rehab. Although he may not return this week, it appears he should be back within the next few weeks.
In two games this season, Godwin has recorded six receptions for 52 yards and no touchdowns. In his nine seasons, Godwin has caught 585 passes for 7,318 yards and 39 touchdowns.
Godwin’s best season came in 2019 when he ranked first overall in PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact ranking. That season, he recorded 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns.
If Godwin is out again this week, Baker Mayfield will rely on the following receivers:
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka is in his rookie year with the Buccaneers and looks like he’s going to be a bona fide star. In the wake of Godwin’s and Mike Evans’ injuries, he’s stepped up.
In 10 games this season, Egbuka has caught 45 passes for 717 yards and six touchdowns.
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson is also in his rookie year with the Buccaneers. Johnson had a slow start in the first three weeks but has picked up the pace since then.
In nine games this season, Johnson has caught 20 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns.
Sterling Shepard
After spending his first eight seasons with the New York Giants, Shepard joined the team in 2024.
In 10 games this season, he’s caught 34 receptions for 349 yards and one touchdown.
Ryan Miller
Ryan Miller hasn’t done much in his three seasons with the team, having played only 22 games since entering the league.
In 10 games, he’s recorded two receptions for 34 yards.
Kameron Johnson
Kameron Johnson joined the team in 2024 but played only five games in his rookie year. This season, he’s played in 10 games.
In those 10 games, he’s caught four passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.
