‘This Game Was Rigged’ — NFL Fans Flip Out About Chiefs Having 0 Penalties Called on Them vs. Lions in Week 6 Clash

Many NFL fans decided to tune in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Detroit Lions 30-17 on “Sunday Night Football” from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, but there was a massive outcry over the lack of penalties called.

Well, the fact that the Chiefs didn’t have one single penalty called against them all night long sent NFL fans into a state of rage and anger.

This is a very rare occasion. When was the last time a team got through 60 minutes on the field without a penalty? Fans have to go back to Week 18 in the 2023 NFL season for that record.

Now, let the outrage begin. One fan pointed out on X when looking at what happened with the referees on Sunday night, “NFL didn’t want KC going 2-4.” This fan recalled a call that happened early on in the game. The person wrote, “Don’t forget the penalty to start the game that took a TD away 3 minutes after the play and the refs reviewed a play that’s not reviewable lol.”

This fan had a more pointed criticism of the no-penalty calls against the chiefs and wrote, “It’s easy to win when the refs are on your side.” When watching the game, this fan believes that there might have been some type of chicanery taking place. The person wrote, “Refs on kc payroll as usual.”

For this NFL fan, a call for some type of investigation into the refereeing of the Lions-Chiefs game would suit the person. The fan wrote, “There’s only one way this is possible. This game needs to be reviewed and investigated. I’ve never seen a clearer example.”

Here’s one fan that decided to keep the reaction to three simple words: “Yeah something fishy.” Now this fan put a mix of references to WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark and pop superstar Taylor Swift, who’s engaged to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, into a reaction. The person commented, “Yeah when you got Katlin Clark and Taylor Swift at your games the refs can’t make Patrick or the Chiefs look bad.”

While these fans were upset about the lack of penalties, after the game ended, the Lions’ Brian Branch and the Chiefs’ Juju Smith-Schuster got into a scuffle. Because the game was over, no penalties were called. For many, it seemed like a fitting ending to have something happen on the field, and no referees were around to throw a yellow flag.
