Jalen Brown’s Devastating Injury Shocks Arkansas Football

Arkansas receiver Jalen Brown went down with an injury on Saturday in the third quarter against Notre Dame. The injury seems to be a serious one. As he attempted to catch, the leg and ankle seemed to snap upon impact.

The incident occurred with Notre Dame leading 42-13. The medical team treated Brown on the ground. The crowd watched the sophomore get attention right away.

Brown was taken to the hospital in Springdale for X-rays. The visit will determine the extent of his injuries.

It was tragic timing as Brown was in the end zone when the incident occurred. His teammates showed concern as he left the field.

A transfer from LSU in 2023, then Florida State in 2024, Brown quickly became a key target for the Razorbacks. Before the Notre Dame game, he had 11 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns in five games. He recorded multiple receptions in the first four games, totaling 11 catches before the Notre Dame loss.

The injury compounds Arkansas’s already thin receiver room. The Hogs may also be without sophomore Monte Harrison, who broke his foot against Arkansas State, as well as sophomore Ismael Cisse, who suffered a season-ending wrist injury during summer workouts. Arkansas suffers a depth loss at the receiver position with three key players injured.

Notre Dame won 56-13 in the match after leading with 42-13 when Brown got injured. The Fighting Irish controlled the game from start to finish, with Arkansas’ record falling to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in SEC play.

Arkansas’s punishing schedule makes Brown’s absence that much more troublesome. The Razorbacks will travel to No. 15 Tennessee on October 11, No. 9 Texas A&M on October 18, and Auburn on October 25. Thus, three ranked opponents in four weeks is a tall order for Arkansas’ shorthanded receiving corps.

However, the next few weeks are definitely critical for the team. Coach Sam Pittman needs Brown ready to go for these all-important conference games. With less depth and inexperienced guys now in bigger roles, the Razorback offense could take a major hit during this make-or-break part of the schedule.
