Early in the third quarter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ Week 10 bout against the USC Trojans, star QB Dylan Raiola suffered an apparent ankle injury. What’s the latest on his status?

Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola Ruled Out for the 2025 Season
On a 1st and 10 at USC’s 23-yard line, Raiola broke a sack, stepped up, took an arm to the head, and then suffered a sack-fumble from his left side. Due to the angle of the hit and the shift in body way, his right ankle collapsed under him awkwardly, and he stayed on the ground in serious pain for some time.

On the drives to follow, backup freshman QB TJ Lateef was on the field running the offense, with Raiola giving words of encouragement before his first series. According to sideline reporter Jessica Coody, Raiola entered the medical tent twice and was seen saying, “I can’t go,” during the fourth quarter light show.
On Sunday, Nov. 2, On3’s Pete Nakos reported Raiola will miss the rest of the season with a broken fibula. Prior to the announcement, the star QB took to his Instagram to send a message to fans:
“Thank y’all for your thoughts and prayers! God’s vision and plan is so much greater than I can imagine!! Just a small bump in the road to a beautiful journey back to playing the game I love!!”
Raiola finished the game 10 of 15 for 91 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions, leading the Cornhuskers to a 14-6 lead before his injury.
In relief, Lateef completed 5 of 7 passes for just seven yards, and the Trojans roared out to a 21-17 victory.

As a true sophomore season, Raiola had Nebraska on a trajectory for one of their better seasons in recent memory, entering Week 10 at 6-2.
He raised his completion rate by almost 5% (67.1% to 72.4%), averaged 8.0 yards per attempt to 6.9, and owned a superior 18:6 TD-to-INT ratio (13:11).
Clearly, HC Matt Rhule and OC Dana Holgerson’s offense was humming with Raiola at the helm. Now that he’s set to miss the remainder of the season, they’ll need to adjust the attack to fit Lateef’s strengths. At least they have experience working with true freshman QBs.
