Plenty of voices throughout the college football world, as well as the NFL, have been expressing their thoughts about Bill Belichick not being voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Belichick, who won eight Super Bowl titles in his NFL career, was not voted in during his first year of eligibility. He won six Super Bowls as head coach of the New England Patriots and added two more as defensive coordinator for the New York Giants under Bill Parcells.
Washington HC Jedd Fisch Reacts to Bill Belichick’s Pro Football Hall of Fame Snub
Belichick is now the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He has received significant attention not only for his efforts to coach the Tar Heels but also for his relationship with Jordan Hudson.
Still, when Washington Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch saw what happened to Belichick, he did not hold back in his criticism of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and its voters. In fact, Fisch called the entire situation “ridiculous.”
“The idea that Coach Belichick is not a first ballot Hall of Famer is ridiculous,” Fisch posted on X on Wednesday.

In Belichick’s first season at North Carolina in 2025, the Tar Heels finished 4-8. There was extensive media coverage surrounding Belichick before the season even began, as college football fans wondered whether he could coach college players to success.
While that remains to be determined after just one season, Belichick has a résumé that reflects massive success, though that success came at the NFL level.
When a coach has eight Super Bowl titles to his name, expectations are going to be high. Some might even argue those expectations were too high for Belichick in his first season at North Carolina.
Belichick spent six seasons as the Giants’ defensive coordinator before serving five seasons as the Cleveland Browns’ head coach. He then spent three seasons as defensive coordinator for the New York Jets before taking over as head coach of the Patriots in 2000. His NFL coaching record stands at 302-165, including a 266-121 mark with New England.
There has reportedly been some pushback from Hall of Fame voters over Belichick’s involvement in the “spygate” and “deflategate” situations in New England.
Still, many voices in the football world echoed Fisch’s sentiments. For now, Belichick will have to wait to see what happens next year regarding his potential entry into the Hall of Fame.
