Social Media Blasts Michigan AD Warde Manuel Over Paige Shiver Interview

This week, former Michigan office assistant Paige Shiver sat down with “Good Morning America.” Shiver and former head coach Sherrone Moore were involved in an extramarital affair. Back in December, the university fired Moore for the relationship.

Subsequently, Moore was arrested for a felony count of home invasion and other charges. In March, the original charges were dropped, and he pled no contest to a pair of misdemeanors. After the interview, social media offered strong opinions about Manuel.

College Sports Only’s X handle wrote, “Holy ****: Paige Shiver told “Good Morning America” that former Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore got her pregnant & that their affair was an open secret in the athletic department. How does Michigan AD Warde Manuel still have a job???”

If Shiver’s assertion is true, that means the athletic department, as a whole, knew of the relationship and possibly the pregnancy. That also includes Manuel or those close to him.

If Michigan fired Moore for the impropriety, why did they take so long? Shiver discussed the nature of her connection to the head coach, outlining how she felt.

Popular X handle Dov Kleiman shared the same, “Heartbreaking: Former Michigan HC Sherrone Moore’s accuser, Paige Shiver, had her first TV interview since the arrest and firing of Moore. “Here’s a man that had complete control over me.” You can see how much pain she’s in.”

The Moore incident isn’t the first during Manuel’s tenure. It is the most serious. In 2023, Connor Stalions, a former volunteer assistant/analyst, was named in an NCAA sign-stealing investigation.

Stalions would attend the games of future opponents and learn their signals. In 1994, the NCAA outright banned advanced scouting to promote fairness.

Stalions’ actions occurred under then-head coach Jim Harbaugh. Both Harbaugh and Stalions received show cause punishments. People still wonder aloud how a state institution can still employ Manuel after multiple scandals, two major ones involving his football program.

“Yes Warde Manuel still has his job,” YouTube: The Monty Show’s X handle commented.

Harbaugh and Stalions are no longer associated with Michigan athletics. Instead, Stalions coaches high school football; Harbaugh left after the national championship win over Washington, becoming the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Meanwhile, Manuel still works as the athletic director, and there’s no word on that changing any time soon, and he keeps working. Back in 2024, Manuel signed a five-year contract extension, paying him $1.9 million per season.
