Virginia Tech wide receiver Tucker Holloway, entering the transfer portal, is another symptom of the tough start in Blacksburg this season. With a 1-3 start and the firing of head coach Brent Pry, there will likely be a lot of change in Virginia Tech over the next several months.
For Holloway, the question now becomes where he will spend his final two years of eligibility. Wherever he lands, he’ll be looking to have a chance to produce and make a name for himself before his time at the collegiate level is done.
Where Will Holloway End Up in 2026
Holloway is just the third player to enter the transfer portal for 2026, so he theoretically has his pick of schools to attend, but we know that won’t last. For him, finding a place where he can have an opportunity will be crucial.
On Thursday, Holloway shared a goodbye to Virginia Tech on X. “Dear Virginia Tech, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. To Coach Pry, thank you for giving me an opportunity. To my teammates who became my brothers, thank you for the countless memories that I will cherish long after my time in Blacksburg.
I gave every ounce to this program because of how much I loved Virginia Tech and Blacksburg – it will always be home. To the community, thank you for embracing me in every way and helping me grow and develop into the man I am today both on and off the field. After much thought and prayer, I will be redshirting and entering my name into the transfer portal with two years of eligibility left.”

Boston College
BC would offer Holloway the chance to stay in the ACC and play for a high-powered passing offense. The Eagles lead the nation in passing yards per game with 393.7, and Bill O’Brien could help teach Holloway how to prepare for the NFL.
Duke
The Blue Devils have several advantages for Holloway, like the opportunity to stay in his home state of North Carolina. Duke has the tenth most productive passing game in college football, and Holloway could team up with star sophomore quarterback Darian Mensah.
East Carolina
The Pirates offer another highly proficient pass attack that would make sense for Holloway. They rank 12th in pass yards per game, are ninth in pass attempts per game, and have had 17 different guys catch a pass this season. There would be no shortage of passes to go around.
Virginia
The Cavaliers have the 20th-best passing game in the nation right now, with 313 yards per game. Virginia would allow him to stay in the state where he’s played his entire collegiate career. The Cavaliers’ top three pass catchers are all seniors, so they need help in 2026.
Ohio State
Given Holloway’s limited production at Virginia Tech, this may be a long shot, but there is a connection. Holloway’s former offensive coordinator, Tyler Bowen, is the current offensive line coach at Ohio State. Bowen knows Holloway’s game and knows that he can be a factor in the punt return game; he owns the Hookies single-game return record with 188 yards.
Wherever Holloway ends up, he’ll be bringing a determined work ethic and looking for an opportunity to produce. Finding the right fit will be a defining moment in his football career.
