‘He 100% Still Has Snapchat’ — CFB World Trolls Lane Kiffin Over Social Media Detachment Following Son Knox’s Challenge

College football community on X had mixed reactions to LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin's social media cleanse.

LSU Tigers coach Lane Kiffin has long been one of college football’s most charismatic and polarizing characters in a colorful career. Kiffin departed the Ole Miss Rebels under a cloud to join LSU last year, and he divided college football fans with his subtle digs at his former program on social media.

CFB World Reacts to Lane Kiffin’s Social Media Cleanse

During the 2026 SEC Media Days in Tampa, Kiffin revealed that he had deleted all social media applications from his phone after a challenge from his son, Knox Kiffin.

“If you tell me I can’t do something, that’s really the way to get me to do it,” Kiffin said. “So I just got off of everything, got off of (X/Twitter), don’t even have the apps. So I don’t even read it either. It wasn’t a plan for very long, I just wanted to show (Knox) I could do it. And it’s been really interesting.”

The college football community on X had mixed reactions to Kiffin’s revelation about his social media activities.

Denton Day predicted that the outspoken Kiffin would be back on social media early in the season, and said, “Over/Under Week 3 before he’s back.”

Matt Jones said, “A challenge from his son, he can’t help but lie. Amazing truly”

‘CFB Home’ cheekily suggested that the Tigers had handed Kiffin a flip phone to stop him from posting on X. “More like LSU pulled an Auburn and gave him a flip phone (Hugh Freeze treatment),” the account posted.

‘Alabama Outsider’ hilariously suggested that Kiffin has a burner account on X. The account wrote, “First one to find his burner wins.”

David Leake was not buying Kiffin’s social media cleanse. “Homie’s going to be logging in from browser, can’t fool me,” he said.

An Ole Miss fan suggested that the former Rebels coach still maintained a Snapchat account. “He 100% still has snapchat,” the Ole Miss fan posted.

Caden Riels thanked Knox Kiffin for saving college football from his father’s social media posts. “Thank you Knox, you did everyone a huge favor,” Riels wrote.

The LSU coach’s last post on X was on June 18, when he uploaded a picture of a Michael Jordan poster under a tiger statue alongside a quote stating: “They have no idea who you are becoming. Time to go ghost.”

Even SEC commissioner Greg Sankey acknowledged Kiffin’s unusual social media cleanse in a speech delivered during the SEC media days.

“The last paragraph I have I call the ‘Someone give Knox a hug for me’ paragraph,” Sankey said. “Last year I introduced Lane talking about his prolific social media activity, but as of this morning, Lane has been off of social media since May 11. I’m told he gave it up because of a challenge from his son, Knox, thus my suggestion that someone give me Knox a hug for me.”

After presiding over one of the most comprehensive roster clearouts in college football via the transfer portal, Kiffin is under intense scrutiny to deliver immediate success in Baton Rouge next season.
