5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Eugene Hilton, Son of NFL WR T.Y. Hilton

Wide receiver Eugene Hilton Jr. played his freshman season at Wisconsin. He has entered the transfer portal seeking a better opportunity.

With three years of eligibility left, Wisconsin wide receiver Eugene Hilton Jr. departs Madison. His father, T.Y. Hilton, is a four-time NFL Pro Bowl wideout. Hilton understands the nuances of the game on a personal level. At Wisconsin, he caught eight passes for 91 yards and no touchdowns.

For the Badgers, Hilton primarily ran routes without many targets, participating in an offense ranked 72nd in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric. Hilton now seeks more opportunities and targets. As a deep threat, the six-foot-one, 202-pound receiver offers explosion and acceleration, with the potential to contribute more with increased involvement.

Wisconsin WR Eugene Hilton Jr. Hits Portal: 5 Programs That Fit

Florida International

T.Y. Hilton is widely regarded as FIU’s top player, having produced 27 touchdowns and 7,498 scrimmage yards. Head coach Willie Simmons recently led the program to its first winning season since 2018, marking just its fifth in history. FIU may benefit from recruiting another Hilton, potentially raising the program’s profile and attracting additional talent.

Michigan

Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood offers Michigan valuable mobility and the ability to escape defenders, adding another layer to the offense. However, he has completed 61.6% of his passes with a 9:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

While his 7.6 yards per attempt is adequate, he is still developing the skill set needed for complex passes and often forces plays. Hilton’s Big Ten experience provides familiarity with the competitive environment, potentially making him a valuable addition.

LSU

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin often seeks bigger, fast receivers and aims to expand the wide receiver group, as the offense distributes passes to multiple targets. Hilton might find increased recognition and NIL value at LSU. Kiffin is expected to achieve early success, as is common at LSU, and experienced targets may be preferred over incoming freshmen for significant pass-catching responsibilities.

Miami

While Miami is not Hilton’s hometown, his father and extended family reside in the area, and his father recently became the head coach of Miami Springs High School. Playing for Miami would offer proximity to family as well as a prominent football opportunity. From a roster perspective, the Hurricanes’ main threat is currently slot receiver Malachi Toney, and regardless of quarterback, Hilton could provide added value to the offense.

Indiana

Indiana, a strong contender for the College Football Playoff, has an experienced roster of wide receivers. With a national title, three seniors, and possibly leading receiver Omar Cooper Jr. departing for the NFL, Hilton, who grew up in nearby Zionsville, Ind., might fit well if Indiana pursues local talent during transfer portal activity.

Despite limited production at Wisconsin, Hilton shows the potential to significantly benefit a future program.
