Former Penn State quarterback Drew Allar put NFL scouts and executives on notice with a strong performance during the Nittany Lions’ Pro Day earlier this week. Allar has been one of the draft risers competing to be among the second quarterbacks off the board on draft night in a class light on QB talent.
Allar fought his way back from a broken ankle sustained on Oct. 11 that ended his college football season prematurely to stake his claim for the 2026 draft class’s QB2.
Todd McShay Blasts Drew Allar’s Accuracy Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft
During Friday’s segment of the “McShay Show,” draft analyst Todd McShay was not sold on the Allar hype, detailing his accuracy among the reasons why NFL teams should not take a gamble on him on draft night.
“He’s not accurate. He can’t throw out a swinger to a running back who’s running away from him,” McShay said. “He can’t complete a go-route, a post, a corner, a real route. He’s not.
“What can I do with a quarterback who can’t hit a target that’s running away from him? I like Drew Allar, his size, he’s strong, he’s a weirdly coordinated athlete, even though he lumbers. But he can’t get away from pressure and his accuracy is not even a red flag, it’s a disqualifier for me.”
In six games played last season, Allar went 103-of-159 for a 64.8% accuracy. His best year statistically was the 2024 season, when he went 262-of-394 on 66.5% accuracy, resulting in 3,327 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.
Drew Allar Sends Strong Message to NFL Teams After Pro Day
While speaking to reporters after his stellar performance at Penn State’s Pro Day, Allar sent a strong message to NFL teams about his dedication and willingness to showcase his talents for scouts.
“I’m a competitor,” Allar said. “Whenever there’s a chance to throw, I’m gonna throw. I’d do it seven days a week, and I’ve always been wired like that. Just trying to show off my work ethic through this whole rehab process.

“Obviously, there’s nothing ideal about what happened last year, but I took it as an opportunity to grow and make myself a better player both athletically and mechanically. I don’t know what round or what pick or what team I’m going to. I just hope for the opportunity to go into a good situation.”
Despite his season ending early, Allar earned a PFSN College QB Impact score of 78.7 after tallying 1,100 passing yards, resulting in 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, while adding 172 rushing yards and 1 score for the Nittany Lions.
