From national championship contenders to unranked in the first three weeks, Clemson’s season has had an abysmal start. After suffering a loss in Atlanta to Georgia Tech last weekend, the Tigers will be glad to be playing at home, with their playoff probability sitting at 5.4% by PFSN’s Playoff Predictor. However, a familiar foe awaits, looking to pile on the misery in Death Valley.
Syracuse may be on a six-game losing streak against Clemson, but the Orange consistently challenge the Tigers. The Orange are currently 2-1 under Fran Brown and have continued what gave them success in 2024. Syracuse ranks third nationally with 1,137 passing yards through three games, and quarterback Steve Anglei has the most passing yards of any passer through the opening game weeks.

Four players have already exceeded 100 receiving yards for the Orange, including tight end Dan Villari, whose 85.89 (B) PFSN College TEi grade this season ranks seventh at his position.
Clemson must slow down the Syracuse passing attack and limit possessions in the game, and Ashton Hampton (26th-ranked PFSN College CBi grade) will be key. Avieon Terrell hasn’t had the impact expected this season (283rd-ranked PFSN College CBi grade) and must improve drastically to slow down the explosive Orange offense.
